I'd be surprised if Essengue even lasts to the 9th pick. He's a very young 18 (December birthday) doing things like this in the playoffs of a man's league. I suspect he will be one of the draft's highest risers.

F*ck no!

This better just be (and likely is) a leak from the Nets' side just to try & show their fanbase that they're actively pursuing a top 10 pick but that would be such a sh*tty waste of a top 10 for us. Either use it or use it to trade for an actual star, no damn high end role players.

If Noa Essengue measures really well, he's going to be a top 5-6 pick

Could easily see that happen. I don't think the top 7 or 8 are locked in like some people think. Could easily see guys like Coward, Bryant, Demin move into the top 10 as well.

I don’t know if he’ll last to 39 but he is super intriguing.

yeah I dont see Raps doing that deal for CJ

Based on history, we are staying at 9 and drafting BPA

Jeremiah Fears may be the pick because we know the Raptors will take a swing on talent even if the analytics aren't perfect. Ja'Kobe Walter had an inefficient college season shooting, but they believed in him as a shooter and liked how he drew fouls. This is very similar to Fears. He is elite at drawing contact and not adverse to being aggressive.

His shooting numbers are scary for a guard:

53% at the rim
28% three point
46% two point

Excellent indicators:
52% FTR
85% FT
29 AST%

Best comp to me is Collin Sexton who also played in the SEC but was a year older:
57% at the rim
34% three point but on low volume
40% two point

58% FTR
78% FT
28 AST%

My swing factor for Fears is that from February to March he really upped his play in pressure situations. Now, as we get close to the draft we a transformation - he has the braids and a cool swag about him. If you carry yourself like he does in this video, it seems like he has the star mentality. Compare him with Kasparas who looks like he wants to say all the right things and be a pleaser, I kind of lean towards the kid that projects himself with confidence.

MOST COMMON PICKS
Below are where the player is most commonly projected, with the number of mock drafts in parentheses. For example, Cooper Flagg is projected to go first in 10 of 10 updated mock drafts listed below:

No. 1 (Mavericks): Cooper Flagg (10)

No. 2 (Spurs): Dylan Harper (10)

No. 3 (76ers): Ace Bailey (5)

No. 4 (Hornets): VJ Edgecombe (7)

No. 5 (Jazz): Jeremiah Fears (3), Tre Johnson (3)

No. 6 (Wizards): Tre Johnson (4)

No. 7 (Pelicans): Kon Knueppel (3)

No. 8 (Nets): Jeremiah Fears (4)

No. 9 (Raptors): Derik Queen (3)

No. 10 (Rockets): Kasparas Jakucionis (3)

No. 11 (Trail Blazers): Collin Murray-Boyles (3)

No. 12 (Bulls): Jase Richardson (3)

No. 13 (Hawks): Noa Essengue, Collin Murray-Boyles (2)

No. 14 (Spurs): Carter Bryant (3)

KM is missing from these mocks above. LOL.

Fears is all over the place.

I'd rather take Jak over Queen... but I'd really rather gamble with Bryant over either of them.

Not a chance in hell that Fears is there at 9. Brooklyn at 8 is his absolute floor

I don't see how we would be interested in trading #9 for Cam Johnson. Tanking an entire season season for Cam Johnson, GTFOH Nets.
It was likely Nets contacted Raps and Masai hung up after listening to the offer.

There’s a hundred different ways that 3-10 could shake out, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Fears is still there.

Flagg/Harper/VJ/Tre/Ace are the only guys I’d bet money on being 100% gone before 9, the rest is up in the air

I have Fears #3 on my board
fk it'd be nice if we could nab him
I really see star potential , I think the NBA game will benefit him

Return to Toronto Raptors
