Thibs is 67, you'd really want him to be coaching into his 70s?

I doubt the Rockets would let us talk to Ime but I'm fine with the Knicks checking to see if it is a possibility. He's a really good coach. If they are chasing Kidd that is really bad news as Kidd is not a good coach.

Brunson loved playing for Kidd and they are looking for a more “player friendly” coach. I seriously doubt the Mavs let him go but if the Knicks do want Kidd it is going to cost them because he still has 2 years left on his Dallas contract.

It does the opposite. They just made ECF. If they take a step back next year all attention turns to the managers chair.

Yeah, this is a risky move for the FO which makes me think that this is Dolan’s decision, especially with the relationship thibs and rose have.

What team has ever gotten to the next level after he left. The Bulls? Wolves? Your analogy is flawed.

Look I like KAT but he doesn't give effort on defense. You think bringing in a coach who is going to go along to get along is going to get better effort out of him? You crazy.

Thibs never got Minnesota to the WCF.
They have made it 2 times without him, after he left.

I don't want Kidd and I would be sad if we got him for nothing. Kidd the player was spectacular who lifted teams for almost two decades but I'm decididely skeptical on everything else.

Also said Pacers pretty much dominated most of the games, I think games 2,3,4,6
and Thibs probably have peaked with this team and needed another coach to bring them farther almost like Bulls firing Doug Collins in favor of Phil and Carlisle getting canned so Larry Brown can finish the job in Detroit.

Still not over that Celtics loss I see

He did admit being bitter but was he wrong about the Pacers dominating 4 of the 6 games they played?
He also mentioned the ave shelf life for coaches is about 5 years and Thibs have reached that?.... remember coaches who did pretty well like Jenkins, Mike Brown also got fired, even with tacticians who won it all like Vogel, Bud and Malone.

Thibs wearing out his welcome is a valid question...though most of the locker-room seemed to have been big fans of his...but winning isn't the same thing as dominating; games 5 & 6 were the only ones that came close to being dominated by either team. The first 4 games were close games that could've gone either way.

He’d also be an obvious downgrade from Thibs.

That would be such a Knicks move.

Fire Thibs...... turnaround and hire Kidd.

It's not 2005 or even 2015 anymore. This FO has yet to make any "lol knicks" moves, and they have a pattern of exploring every possibility before making their choice. So I won't take reports about Kidd seriously until we get a presser announcing that it's actually real.

But the pressure's on for them to get an actual upgrade.

THe made 2 times with Ant & Gobert...neither of whom Thibs had, and Thibs learned a lot from what went wrong in Minnesota.

Yeah Bridges is the league's premier ironman so him complaining about overuse had to be taken seriously.

Rose overpaid for Bridges but that just makes it more critical they get value out of him. This is the big leagues, Thibs never committed to loosening up his lineup in the regular season so guys have enough left in the tank deep in the playoffs, and even us internet cranks can see that just isn't how you win rings.

I just don't get Thibs man, why run your starters into the ground every regular season :banghead:

Zach Lowe podcast was really good re: this, particularly players minutes played.

Also there's the fact that in the winning match of Boston vs Knicks, Thibs was still playing star players up 30 points with 5 minutes left.

It was absolute lunacy.

I feel like Dolan probably expected more from the trade for KAT than beating an injured Celtics team.

Thibs did a good job. The Knicks were never actual contenders anyway.

Bad move, regardless. Terrible firing.

The jokes werent funny anymore, t he last 5 years (Thibs took over, remember??)

But after yesterday, the jokes may possibly be back.

BTW, these aren't joked intended.
