Trae Young to Tdot

Post#1 » by Syko_boB » Thu Jun 5, 2025 4:55 am

Hawks
Out: Trae Young
In: Ochai Agbaji, Josh Okogie & Jusuf Nurkic + Pick #4, TOR 27 FRP & TOR 29 or 30 FRP option

- all players incoming are expiring
- all picks are unprotected
- ATL has choice of TOR 1st in 29 or 30
- Trae Young has made his desire to play on a competitive squad public, & the Hawks have some new building blocks
- they open a lot of room to send some RFA offer sheets the next couple seasons while they tank

Okongwu | Johnson | Risacher | #4 | Daniels

-

Hornets
Out: Josh Okogie & Jusuf Nurkic + Pick #4
In: Immanuel Quickley + Pick #9

- bring in a young Rozier & guaranteed bucket getter locked in for many years
- can play off their stars & get his own with a unit off the bench where CHA needs some help
- keep a lottery pick where players they have scouted are still within range

Williams | Bridges | Miller | Quickley | Ball

-

Raptors
Out: Immanuel Quickley & Ochai Agbaji + Pick #9, 27 FRP & 29 or 30 FRP option
In: Trae Young

- ice trae
- upgrade a starter & raise their ceiling
- try & convince Trae that Toronto can be home long term

Poeltl | Barnes | Ingram | Barrett | Young

-

Probably short another 1st to ATL, or a swap of some youth (Ja'Kobe for Mo Gueye..)

Don’t think Charlotte does this.

But if Atlanta is trading Trae? They might be willing to take a chance on IQ as they don’t own their own picks anyways.. Some obvious hope that he can scale his NYK impact into a starting role..

yeah that Charlotte part is rough rough. Any thoughts he is even worth his contract is based on optimism his Knicks impact can scale up, but we haven't seen that happen yet and he's been on the Raptors in a bigger role for a minute now. But I can't see a team dropping that far in that spot of this draft to gamble on him. Especially not Charlotte who already has a max deal invested in a PG we aren't sure is dependable enough to be the answer. Toronto would need to find a different way to satisfy Atlanta.

The problem is that until there's a resolution on the Giannis front the trade market is going to be pretty frozen. So long as there's a chance he wants to go to Toronto, they won't move those picks.

Setting that reality aside, this seems a little heavy for Trae and pretty bad for the Hornets.

The fundamental problem here is that Quickley and the 9th pick is simply not enough value to land a top 40 player. Everything else is window dressing.

On the fence here with Trae Young he's signed for 1 more year if he declines his player option and tests tyre free agency market. Best case scenario he accepts it and you work on his a new extension similar to what he just signed fur.

I just dont like Trae on this team giving up 3 future picks plus #9. He puts up points but isn't the most efficient doing so and 11apg to close to 5 turnovers needs to improve his decision making. Quickley could go in a deal I just rather it not be for Trae
