Re: Best option for Washington at 6?
I'd take Kon if he's available but if not I kinda think a Derik Queen/Alex Sarr frontcourt would be awesome. Sarr covers a lot of Queen's weaknesses, and that roster as a whole feels like a good place for Queen to hit an Alperen Sengun-like upside

WAS picks Maluach and send him to ORL
ORL sends Jett Howard and ORL 26 frp (with PHX swap right)
…if I understand the swap, this would give WAS the TWO BEST of WAS, PHX, and ORL.
We really don't Jett Howard. He'd play zero minutes for us as we already have Bilal, George, Middleton (even though he is expiring, he was still good when he played for the Wizards), Kispert, Bey (rehabbed last year), and Justin Champeigne (was great last year and is signed to an excellent minimum longterm contract) at the Wings.
My Wizards offer would be 6 for 25+Suns swap rights that Orlando owns for 2026 for the Suns 2026 1st.

We already had Queen basically in Thomas Bryant as a center for multiple years. Bryant was unplayable because of his horrific defense. Bigs get played off the floor in today's NBA if they are bad defenders. Queen's combine makes him undraftable at 6.

I don't think the Nets are offering up those Knicks picks anytime soon. The track record of teams after Thibs leaves is not good. The firing also reeks of the Dolan Dysfunction returning.

Re: Best option for Washington at 6?
BPA above all, but more specifically my thinking is:
1) Try and move up for Ace. I think he has an NBA ready game, just moves to fast. He can learn NBA pace and better shot selection in a year or 2 and be gold.
2) Ace gone, hope to move up for Tre Johnson, or that he falls. Tre has a touch that I think will translate.
3) If you like Maluach, trade back a pick or 2, or take him at 6
4) See if you can move up from 18 for someone like Cedric Coward, or stay put and hope Asa Newell is there
I like Bub; I see him as a Jrue Holiday type combo guard once he fills out; outside of Harper, idk if any other point guard is worth going out of your way for

I'd say,
(1)move up for Harper if you can for a reasonable deal.
(2)take BPA at 6 and 18 looking for a homerun swing (Tre, Maluach) and if Queen falls to 18, sure, take the chance on him but not at 6. I don't see Bailey/Edgecomb as so much better potentially than these guys who may be there at 6 like Tre Johnson that I would break the bank to move up. Not that impressed with Ace's BBIQ from all the reports I've read . . . keeping in mind that I have a poor draft prediction record.
(3)be open to someone else overpaying for an asset; go for value. The team needs stars but can deal with more tradable options if someone is overpaying.
(4)fine with dealing this year (Poole, others) for greater future value. Still tanking and in asset acquisition phase.

I cant see SA agreeing to any Wiz offer. I dont think 6, Bilal, Sarr, and a future pick would even do it, and thats the best Wiz could offer

Best Player available .
I think 3-6 or maybe 7 is a tier in this draft. At 6 they can get the best player on their team imo.
I wouldn’t move up or down. Johnson, Edgecombe or Fears. Who ever is there.
If it’s possible to move up to 2…then go for it.

louc1970 wrote:Who is the best option for Washington at 6? Would it be one of the top 5 falling to them (Tre Johnson, Ace Bailey, Jeremiah Fears) or going after a slight reach and taking Khaman Maluach?
I lean toward the reach to shore up the defensive side of the ball. With A. Sarr and K. Maluach, Washington would have a formidable front line.
J. Fears seems like a duplicate of B. Carrington.
T. Johnson would sit behind J. Poole.
And A. Bailey would sit behind B. Coulibaly.
The young pick needs to be on the floor to learn how to play in the NBA.
Where’s the trade

If you think Dylan Harper's value is even close to that I agree with you. I have him closer to the 3-6 range players like Tre Johnson than to the Flagg type sure thing star.

Not sure what to think of Harper given Rutgers was meh. Just not high on any of the Wiz guys

If I were SA I couldn't say YES quick enough.
At 6 I am still getting a quality player, but Sarr and Wemby together is a defensive force.
