It's easier to list the players that have team options next year that can be declined. Those are Moe W., Cojo, C. Houstan and G. Harris. All the other players are under contract next year. You can find all this stuff on spotrac.com/nba/magicMartinsIzAfraud wrote:CocoaFan wrote:Hard cap doesn't allow itMartinsIzAfraud wrote:

What are the 11 players under contract for you? That’s a good starting point? I think we’ve got 2 different paths going on here

Re: Official 2024-2025 Magic Trade ideas thread continued
There is a mock trade on BR, Spurs trade Devin Vessell, Harrison Barnes plus the 14th pick for Kevin Durant.
Suns have recently lowered the asking price plus they have knocked on Houston Rockets for weeks wanting Sengun, but Rockets said no
What if Orlando could retain our core of Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner plus Paolo while trading for KD?
I know it might sound crazy how do we need another wing scorer. But KD is a superstar and he can provide what we lack, Offense!
What if a trade package of Cole, AB, JI plus 16th pick for KD? That is my mock trade proposal. Could that work?
We add an elite scorer to our offense. And do you think it can get us there in the Eastern Conference next season?

It’s not a matter of him being significantly better, although I think they’d be about the same as same.
It’s about one guy costing 33% less than the other over the next two years.
I wouldn’t necessarily sign NAW without sending KCP’s money out either.
Come on KCP is far better than NAW, ok KCP didn't shoot well at the beginning of the season but you can't ignore his career numbers (and his last 2 months stats).
NAW is an average bench player

1st Murphy is probably one of the most unrealistic targets. The Pels traded Ingram for him. He is one of the best non rookie contracts in the leaque. Pels would be dumb to trade him and they probably won't for picks only. They have tons of extra picks anyway. I love Murphy but for the price to get him you get players who solve much more needs and make more sense roster wise instead of still playing Suggs as your PG.
2nd That roster still got no playmaker. You have 3 ISO players who are OK - good at passing. Sexton is just by far the worst possible fit of all the combo guards for this team. ISO player, lowest 3PA, another drive first guy, worst passer...

Durand Trade to phoenix is heating up
I think we could sneak in that trade
the frame is supposed to be around
KD for Vassell + Barnes + Pick #14 + future FRP from SA
We could join that trade by sending KCP + #16 + FRP for Vassell
so the trade would be
Orlando
in : Vassell
Out : KCP + Jett + #16 + ORL 2026 (so they Phoenix keep their picks and get ours) ### Bit pricey but Vassell is a perfect fit
Phoenix
in : KCP + Jett + Barnes + #14 + #16 + 2026 FRP ORL + few FRP from SA ### Huge return for aging KD
out : KD
SA
in: KD
out: Vassell + Barnes + #14 and future FRPs
Draft a Big with #25 (Raynaud)
Draft Brea OR Lanier using your FRP
Decline moe s option and offer him a lower contract with option to extend for more money when he is Healthy
ideally we d trade Cole for a good back up SG but i dont see how we can do that without adding assets to it
Sign Melton on the cheap
Suggs,AB,Cojo, Cole
Vassell, Melton, Brea/Lanier
Franz, Oneil, TDS
P5,Oneil,JI,Moe
WCJ,JI, Moe,Raynaud

Do not go for Durant. He’ll be 37 at training camp, and that ship sailed. He’s not getting more durable.
I think the above where we end up with Vassell is a great idea, I just can’t imagine the Spurs being that crazy for Durant where they’d want to sacrifice Vassell. They can get KD without doing that.

Why should Phoenix want KCP instead of Vassel, like in the trade proposal without us? They are not in full win now mode, that´s why they trade Durant. So there is no reason for them to trade a young promising (and better) Vassel for an aging KCP. Only teams who want KCP now with this contract are teams in full win now mode, like Lakers e.g.

I think it's pretty damning to be honest that he's been out injured so much and yet hasn't managed to develop himself to be anything better than horrible on offense.
I'm not sure what his priorities are but being a well rounded player doesn't seem to be one of them.
Suggs has worked hard on his O, Cole developed his game, Paolo has improved on D etc etc and yet all the while JI has been static as a high effort disruptor and really nothing more.
Ok… we need this off season to officially kick off already.

Umm, no longer think he’s a realistic option. This would have to be a precursor to a much larger trade.

I think that's a really good price for NAW. We've also been talking to Florida's coach about Walter Clayton.
Suggs, KCP, NAW, Black, Cole, and Clayton.

NAW deserves the MLE. $12 mil. per season is not an overpay. He’s an efficient scorer on a contender. Several teams will offer him that.

If he gets the full 16 that’s a solid deal as well. Will be interesting to see where he ends up. Things would have to work out perfectly for it to be in Orlando and well yeah that doesn’t seem to happen.

The salary cap would be $226m by the end of NAW's contract. It's a perfect season to sign an MLE player. NAW would get 5% increases, and the cap would be going up 10% per season.
