Castle and Vassell are good young players.

Castle has SGA potential and Vassell a Khris MIddleton type.

Castle has some intrigue Vassell seems like bad salary to me.

With the cap going up, 27 mill isnt that bad anymore. He is litterally half of Jaylen Browns salary, but is more than half the player Brown is.
MLE is 15 million...less than twice the MLE seems reasonable.

I have no interest in any of the players that SA might send back in a Brown deal except Harrison Barnes, since his deal is expiring. I could live with Barnes and Castle, I suppose. Along with the #2 pick of course.

And Barnes is still a decent player. I remember when they called him the Black falcon and he gave Pierce fits when Barnes was a rookie.

Both will not get the finals MVP

I prefer Brown

Brown has been on a decline over last 2 seasons....and honestly should NOT have gotten the one he did.

Tatum should have and was robbed.

Brown
20.8ppg, 5.4rpg, 5apg

Tatum
22.2ppg, 7.8rpg, 7.2apg

It was browns perceived defense on Luka (while ignoring Luka was obviously gassed) that gave brown the FMVP.

Hats off to Brown for winning the FMVP. But that was 2 years ago. The world is different now.

Says who?

statistics

Usage down, turnovers up.
shooting worse (attacking rim less and shooting more for 3-10 feet which looks like he is lacking the ability to get to the rim...meaning a decline)

2024 FMVP.

It's 2025 today.

Cs were not in the Finals 2 years ago.

If the Spurs are looking for a star with a lower asking price than Antetokounmpo, Mannix believes that Brown could be a feasible option for San Antonio.

“I think if you’re Boston, you’re not going to ask for a Stephon Castle. You’re not going to get a Stephon Castle in a potential Jaylen Brown deal. You would get the No. 2 pick back in return. You would get the Devin Vassells, the Keldon Johnsons, future first-round capital. That’s something I’d watch if and when the Giannis Antetokounmpo stuff shakes itself out over the next few weeks.”

Yes, do it.

I would absolutely do No. 2 pick (Harper) + Vassell + Barnes(or Keldon Johnson) + picks for JB.

Absolutely.

Do it.

Tatum lead the Celtics in turnovers and turnovers per game and Tatum had the most 5+ turnover games last season. Just keeping it real.

So would Mannix. Problem is the Spurs won't do it. Rumor is the Spurs/Suns have a framework for a Durant deal with only the 14th pick being moved. Check back a few pages. Spurs think Durant and #2 pick > Brown. I agree.

I have Vassell as a bit of a binkie.

But yeah, I do that trade too.

Barnes fills a role that is greatly needed. Spacing PF who can defend.

then bring back either Horford or Kornet

PP, White, Brown, Washington, KP
JD, Scheierman, Naji, Kelly O, Horford/Kornet
Pick #28, Walsh, Queta

Vassell just seems like all the downsides of Brown without the upsides.

JB is one lucky dude.

Just checked and found out JB only made All-NBA once and it resulted in a supermax.

Keyword there is rumor. It's all just rumors right now. We don't know what the Spurs really think and we won't know until they make a move.

And who knows, maybe they do both..14 pick for KD and 2nd pick for JB.

That is plausible.

Spurs move Vassell, Keldon, and Barnes, that will allow them to take back JB and KD.

Spurs are not taking $110 million of salary for two players already having Fox, Wemby and Castle  People need to go outside and get some fresh air. The Spurs and Brown is not even a rumor, it's 100% speculation from Mannix. He was answering a question from Drew Carter to give his opinion.

Would Phoenix (if other options fail) take a deal based around Porzingis +Jrue for KD?
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.
