its 50/50

Biid needed to take his body seriously years ago. He also was apart of the Ben coddling. And just in general is stubborn to the way he wants to play...which in turn effected the roster make up

Well a better organisation would have gotten it out of him. If he was on the Spurs or the Celtics, he'd be a multichip winner.

I'm with Mik on it being 50/50. At some point it has to come from within the player to take the responsibility of getting himself in better condition and understanding areas where he could improve to be a better post season player.

Embiid's seeming refusal to not be the central focus of the offense and work on his playmaking and passing instead of more offensive moves with Hanlon kind of tied the Sixers hands with regard to roster building. There's no question his health was a huge factor (which his at times reckless play didn't help), as well as the fact that the Sixers failed to ever build a group that could survive without him on the floor, other than briefly with Harden.

The blame is shared by everyone involved (very much including Adam Silver), and just referring to Embiid as a "loser" simplifies what was a very complicated situation.

Honestly he never showed me anything that made me very confident that he could lead us to a championship. When I think of Embiid in the playoffs a picture him getting swarmed and coughing it up. Needed to keep Butler, which I didn't see at the time.

Embiid entered the league at around 250 lbs, and at one point was rumored to have ballooned up to nearly 300 lbs. In September 2024, he revealed that he had lost 25–30 lbs and was later listed at 280 lbs while playing for Team USA.

I dont know which weight suits him best.. but shouldn’t he try to weigh towards 250lbs?

I mean we saw what he could do at Kansas and then even here his throokie year with the footwork. Then I guess Shaq got in his ear about how it's great to have an ass two axe handles wide. It didn't work.

Embiid deserves a lot of the criticism that he will get.

He didn't manage his health or his weight. He couldn't adapt his game, he's still too much of a blackhole offensively, too loose with the ball. He's immature. He's a foul grifter, and borderline unwatchable at times.

Can't wait until we move on.

As oppose to when? We've sucked every year but one of my life. If there's been a substantially more enjoyable era of Sixers basketball since the 80s, I must have missed it.

Fair, I guess for my money the AI era was infinitely more enjoyable, but that's probably nostalgia more than anything.

The only enjoyable teams of the Embiid era were the Joel-Butler squad and the Simmons-Marco-Ersan squads. Everything else has been pretty rough. And I would take most of the AI teams over them.

And yes, Joel is a better player than AI, when healthy and not sulking.

For me the most enjoyable team (except that Glenn was allowed to remain as coach) was Harden's full season here, which was the single best opportunity Embiid had to get to a finals. After that would be the Simmons-Marco-Ersan group because it was all so 'innocent' then. If we had kept Butler and JJ and jettisoned Brown, Simmons, and Harris, that would have been the dream team, but Harris' presence ruined that playoff run.

I had more fun rooting for Iverson as an individual player - his playstyle, swagger, and that Finals run are all imprinted in my brain. I was also a kid falling in love with the game of basketball at the time tho so nostalgia is tough to beat.

The Embiid run has been consistently more competitive and all the Process characters have made it a fun ride. If the end of the Embiid era is Maxey + an exciting young core I can live with that.

So, we just need Joel to be playing at 50% and we're back :D

I think games played will be just as important as being X%. You can't win in the playoffs without continuity and chemistry.

I'm talking 60 games at a minimum, which is improbable.

60+ days out from surgery. Team said he would be re-evaluated 6 weeks from surgery. No updates. Not a good sign. If his knee were looking good, wouldn't they be quick to mention it?
