It wouldn't have been KAT. He was playing dominant at the time and is controlled for next 3 years. It would have been Bridges who was complaining and playing inconsistent (who also had 1 year left on deal), it would have been Mitch who was not playing who also had one year left on deal, and Hart for salary matching.

Glad it fell through. Brunson + Durant + KAT would constitute a line-up where a defensive stop becomes essentially impossible. I'm not against a Durant trade but if the idea is to pair Durant and KAT upfront with Brunson in the backcourt then I would entirely oppose that. Not going to work.

1. Protect the rim
2. Defend 4s and 5s
3. Shoot the 3 ball well enough that we can still play 5 out
Ideal target in this scenario is JJJ but that **** ain't happening (unless the Grizz prefer Mikal and Idk why they would)
I'd look to be a sneaky part of a trade for KD to Houston and try to move Mitch + the 2025 Was 1st for Jabari Smith Jr.
He hasn't really lived up to his top two draft position but he's a budding defender in this leauge and he can shoot it. It would cost us Mitch and I know we all love him but I think this trade is worth it for the spot we're in right now.
KD and Mitch to Houston
Jalen Green and Dillion Brooks and the Was 1st to PHX
Jabrari Smith Jr to NY
Then sign Brook Lopez to the partial MLE of $5.7 mil for some added rim protection and shooting, hopefully he looks at this as a chance to compete for a chip again and takes less. Can also mentor youngins Jabari and Huk...
Maybe resign precious to be a innings eater incase of injury again? Same with Shamet. Let Kolek get the backup PG mins as we're gonna need his offensive creativity.
KAT/Lopez/Huk
Jabari/OG/Precious
OG/Hart/Shamet
Mikal/Deuce/Hart
Brunson/Kolek/Deuce
This allows Mikal and OG to shift to their more natural positions at the 2 and 3 respectively.

Look I am a big proponent of defense but I recognize having a phenomenal offense with a couple key defenders can win too (with the right coach that gets them playing well enough as a team defensively)...
I mean Indiana is not exactly doing too bad at the moment are they? You would still have OG, McBride, Wright (if resigned to a minimum) , perhaps Achiuwa too.
Again its not necessarily my first choice but if I didnt have to give up KAT and Im giving up a couple guys in the final year of their deal + Hart , Id still do it. Its KD. And he didnt show some alarming sign last year of dropping off a cliff as a player. The 5 out offense would potentially be historic.
