How can a basketball fan not love how this Pacers team plays? I’m very jealous. But I am rooting hard for the Pacers and I never really root for another NBA team besides the Celtics or whoever is playing the Lakers. I don’t feel bad though. The Pacers play beautiful basketball and Larry Legend coached them once. Good enough for me.

I think it's both but I dare you to find them a coach who can make them change their habits and style of play. Our offense is mainly dependent on what our stars are capable AND willing to do. I won't change my stance on that until they prove me wrong. Just happy we won against a really good matchup for us in Dallas, who had no POA defenders to bother either Jay.

I don't believe this is true but if it is true, I'd be way more open to dumping Jaylen this offseason.
The most charitable interpretation is that it's ethnic cleansing and massive war crimes.

Hali hit a step back 3 to win game 1 of the ECF.

You're not tired of the pullup three as his main weapon?

It’s not the only shot we attempt to win games. Another case of overreacting to something when it works. JB hit the winner game 1 of the ECF from a C&S. Pretty much put g3 of the finals away on a middy. Tatum has hit other types of game winners or clinches too. Harping on the ones they missed. Why not the shot where Tatum got to the basket and missed the layup, I don’t recall the game but I think it was one of the Pacers games last season, but we made it to OT. Was it game 1 also?

I’m tired of the step back threes, but it’s not the only shots we have generated. It stands out because we lost this season.

You are right about Rick over Joe.

But if the Jays don't want a coach like Rick then it's moot.

The Jays want a coach they can control.

I doubt JB would be dribbling a lot under Rick Carlisle.

They are going to fight til the end. Hali is cold blooded. They wanted Dort to take those threes, he made them early and missed when they needed them. Shai is usually a clutch shooter too, Nembhard stuck with him well. He got a good shot but pacers tire you out and make it difficult to hit shots by the end of the game.

I hope it’s a good series, I thought it was going to be a sweep. Grinder series are better though.

Three things:

Hali already has legend status.

I want to find team by team data for total minutes played by starters in the regular season. Hali only played 33.6 mpg last season, Siakam & Turner slightly less, every other Pacer was under 30 mpg. But whatever the reason, Pacers play hard and still have legs come the end of games and it continues to give them an advantage.

I can't say much bad about Mark Daigneault given how well he has his young roster playing, but in terms of timeouts and late/end of game situations, he reminds a bit of Brad & Joe. It cost the Thunder at least one game, maybe two vs the Nuggets and it cost them again tonight.

OKC definitely has the most balance between offense and defense. But they are not a high level shooting team. So much of their offense is created from the eternal.

I bring this up because indiana has a legit chance if they could just take better care of the ball.

Shai looked pissed. I can’t wait for game 2. This is better for ratings, hopefully. Don’t want the NBA trying to push lakers more because of poor ratings. I really believe they will ref the lakers into the finals at the very least, if they can. Any team they think will bring ratings back next season will be getting some weird calls next season. Unless this series can hold it’s own in the ratings.

My gut says okc in 5, good thing my gut is rarely right. In fact, I may need to start doing the opposite of what my gut says, may have better odds.

If its not the 3ball, JT looks lost on offense in the clutch. End of game 2 shows it all. JT can’t take a 3 with us down 1. He did that game 1 and he bricked it bad. He ended up taking a weak fade away in the side that got blocked by two guys trying to pass it the last second. He doesn’t know what to do in those situatuons. Sorry but JT needs to be better, and just stop with thise side step 3’s.

Discipline on offense and playing the right way got them to where they are right now.

Celtics not beating these 2 teams if efficiency and bball IQ will remain an issue.

The Jays should let Joe coach them.

Brad tried coaching the Jays and the Jays rebelled.

This is on the star players of the Cs.

I agree with everything until you get to "Joe coach them" - he's a player's coach, that's one reason why he's untouchable this off season.

The players luv shooting 3s, it's easy and you can pretend you're Kobe at the end of the game, Joe encourages them!

Yes, the stars deserve blame, so does the coach cuz he doesn't want to lose the players. Plus, like Daignault, thinks math makes him smarter than everyone else

Both coach and stars suffer from hubris

We need a new coach and an updated roster with a player who has a brain and can put the rest of the players in their place.

Curious to see how Jaylen reacts to be the "# 1" I think he's mentally tougher than JT but is stupid too when he tries to do everything by himself - bad Jaylen :(

It stands out because he's bad at it. If he was making a decent percentage on those, I won't complain much. It's been going on for years. I think he's only had one good season with that pullup.

They led for 0.3 seconds in 48 minutes, and won. It’s a back-breaking loss for OKC. I wonder what’s gonna happen in game 2.

They spotted OKC 18 TOs...but OKC benched Hartenstein and spotted the Pacers 17 rebounds.

Hartenstein was OKC's leading rebounder, pulling down 9 in 17 minutes. Nobody else on the Thunder pulled down more than six.

Putting Cason Wallace into the starting lineup, and giving him Hartenstein's minutes, is a bit curious to me.
