Personally, I think people are underestimating how good KAT is and how much better he’d be in Darko’s system than on the Knicks under Thibs or in Minnesota. The question is, whether Scottie is a good enough defender to cover for KAT on the backside. He is better than OG as a defender in that regard. The problem is really about salary matching for me. RJ, Yak, only gets to 46 million. Towns is just too expensive. But he is way better than people here seem to think.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Aren't Booker and KAT tight? Thought they'd be all over bringing them together, especially if it means you're trading a 37 year old disgruntled player.

I'm not the biggest KAT fan but he's taking unnecessary slander after having a pretty damn great season. His teams have gone to the conference finals in back to back years and he's been a big part of both runs.

They want trade flexibility. Hard to do that if you get KAT. You’ll be stuck in the 2nd apron again and that’s basically a franchise suicide for the Suns.

I reckon they just want their picks back and to have trade flexibility for the next 2 years in an ideal world.

I wouldn’t mind KAT if the Knicks just wanted to get off his money. I would love to see what Scottie can do with a stretch 5 beside him.

RJ + Poeltl for KAT is probably the most I would pay.

Ya I get that logic but they aren't truly rebuilding with Booker/Beal and some of their other players on the roster. KAT would fit well at PF with a defensive C beside him on the Suns. Its the Beal/Booker wing combo thats truly repetitive with minimal complementary skills.

Clippers would be stupid to trade Zubac but I hope they do it. Thats a home run trade for the Suns if they could get that.

Let's say Giannis doesn't work out. KAT would actually be a really good fit next to Scottie in terms of spacing/offence. The defence is a major issue though with KAT. Does SB's help side /off ball defence make up for some of it?

Knicks were 13th in defensive rating. Granted they had OG, Hart, and Bridges who are all viewed as + defenders

What would a realistic trade be for Kat to Raptors?

It'd have to be some sort of 3 team trade I'd guess with RJ going to the third team. Real rough outline of a trade with SAS NY and TOR

TOR sends out:

RJ
Poetl
Dick
(whatever picks are needed)

TOR receives:

KAT

NY sends out:

KAT

NY receives:
Poelt
Keldon Johnson
Dick
Picks

SAS Sends out:

Keldon Johnson

SAS Receives:

RJ Barreet

This and KD is still a killer and Kat hasn’t improved defensively.

Probably only way to make the money work. Also KAT still carries value around the league, we aren't getting him for the same package we got BI for.

KAT is talented, but like you said, way too expensive. His contract really penalizes teams especially in the current CBA with the tax aprons.

A team can only afford to pay a super max guy like that if he is a legit #1 option which he isn't. His dumb fouls also make him very unreliable. He would be a very frustrating watch and hard to move later on.

Yeah, another iteration would be:

KAT to Raps
KD to Knicks
RJ/Jak/Gradey (and filler like Castelton and Hukporti) to Suns

Raps get a stretch big (and big fish)
Knicks get KD
Suns get a starting centre and more depth (I know Gradey & RJ aren't exactly a seamless fit with Book & Beal).

We'd have a starting lineup of:

IQ
Ochai
Ingram
Scottie
Kat

That team would be able to score and spread the floor! But yeah, an abomination defensively. But still, we'd have all our picks and could maybe figure out something to keep improving.

My gut says that if we build another champion, it will need to be a roster similar to the one that did it before. Can defend every position, built on depth, and overachievers who were drafted late (or not at all). I'm not sure if adding a first overall pick who can't defend really fits with that.

We literally created an identity this past year and it was a defensive one. We are not going to rip that apart by trading Yak+ our leading scorer+recent top 15 pick, for KAT.

We are in a good position to jump up the standings next year regardless. Add a legit backup C and let's go. We don't "have" to make a deal unless it's the right one. And KAT isn't it.
