Yes there is no high level player like Joker, but you also dont have the defensive and offensive liabilities that you could exploit with Denver and the Wolves. I see this as a good series with a few blowouts. Pacers need game 1 more then OKC does. Get that and you have a chance. Otherwise OKC has the best player in the series, homecourt and just as deep if not deeper of a bench. today i would pick okc in 6. oh, i also think the Pacers have the better head coach.

No lol. Pacers not even a playoffs team in the West

I can't believe the Pacers won this game with 24 turnovers.

I want to think this, but it took a buzzer-beater to beat a Thunder team shooting 39%.

And the refs giving their everything to influence that game.

It’s very creepy how much people like Indiana. It’s terrible basketball. Just a bunch of losers.

Its actually great team basketball. OKC is getting outcoached hard.

Jokic is a top 10 player of all-time. He's more talented than most rosters combined.

Jamal is better than anyone on the Pacers roster besides Turner, Pascal and Haliburton.

Same goes Aaron Gordon.

Nuggets top 3 players are better than the Pacers top 3.

The Pacers are not levels above the Nuggets. You put the Nuggets in the East, with the same injuries this post season, they have a chance to go the Finals.

Pacers have a deeper rotation but they are not significantly more talented the Nuggets or even the Timberwolves.

Why is it most of the critics/haters of the Pacers seem to be fans of Western Conference teams and by that i mean Denver (and Joker Stans from what I am reading)

I think we all wanted (no matter who we root for) a long and dramatic finals series that goes at least 6 games, yet some fans (not OKC Stans who seemed magnanimous and gracious in defeat) seem rattled the poor plucky underdogs from small town Indiana upset the apple cart and stole game 1.

Aside from last year, I don't think I have enjoyed a more enjoyable game 1 of the Finals since 2008 !

They built their team (Indy) the right way, I remember reading somewhere they have only had one under 30 win season since the 80s, never tanked, and made some bold and aggressive trades and astute drafting.

Also suffered a ton of injuries this season.

This team is as anti trust the process tanking Sixers (a team and philosophy I truly abhor) and should be given their flowers for that.

Just thinking, if they win the chip, does this mean the Nets and Flint Tropics are the only teams left from the ABA who haven't won a championship in the NBA post merger??

I did not watch the game as I had a work event and I was surprised by the outcome. Definitely have to give credit to Indiana but I see a lot of people who chose Indiana jumping on their high horse and forgetting that OKC has already lost a game 1 in heartbreaking fashion and came back to win that series.

Even though this gives Indiana a better chance, I wouldn't jump to conclusions until after game 2.

Many teams have failed to do as well as they could because if the primary guy is being over pressured they just can't support well enough.

Nembhard had "no-no-no, yes!" to some of his work down the stretch as well. I did not think he had it in him. Dude's offense hasn't shown up in the playoffs (his defense has been incredible though)

Offensively he was shooting lights out in the first two series.

Didn't do the best offensively against the Knicks though.

Yeah you are right. I had to go back and look at it. His regular season was rough 29% from 3 but he was good outside of the Knicks series.

The Pacers had 24 turnovers. 24

The Thunder had 6.

Is that the biggest turnover differential to win a finals game ever? If not it’s def up there.

So Thunder may not shoot 39% but I doubt Pacers turn it over 4x the Thunder turnovers again…

The Pacers had 25 turnovers. 25!

The Thunder had 7.

Is that the biggest turnover differential to win a finals game ever? If not it’s def up there.

So Thunder may not shoot 39% but I doubt Pacers turn it over 3.5x the Thunder turnovers again…

Warriors and Trail Blazers both had upper 30s back in the day. I think this is 3rd all time.

*I don't have the number in front of me but I think it was 36 TOs back in '77 for the Trail Blazers

I just don’t personally understand this mentality.

It’s one game. It’s not super rare for the team who lost the first game to win the series. OKC did it against the Nuggets.

What do we gain by EVERYTHING being decided by the latest instance? If the Pacers lose next game, the same people saying it’s over now, will be shouting how the Thunder have dominated 99% of the minutes.

Why does the latest thing have the be the indicator of everything?

I just watched the game with European delay and I can't just believe yet. The unlikeliness! Pacers never led the game until 0.3 seconds left! The Turner banked 3! The dare pull-up by Nembhard! The unlikely Siakam bunny rebound! And the Hali shot!

Aren't you the dude who keep banging that drum that OKC vs. Denver is the real Finals? And now you're suggesting to slow down and not jump to conclusions now that Pacers leading the Finals series? Maybe practice what you preach instead of banging that stupid drum even before the Finals started, it's just game 1 sure but all those hard work for 68-win season means nothing now as they lost their home-court advantage and the Pacers just need to win all their remaining home games to win it all. I won't be surprised if the Pacers win game 2 and lead the Finals series 3-1 after 4 games like what they did in all of their series in 2025 playoffs.

Reminds me of when the Sixers took game 1 against the Lakers in 2001.

I personally expect OKC to basically dominate the rest of the series.
California Gold wrote:This is extra because people hate the Lakers and their brand so much.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.
