Knicks becoming new Lakers. They want everyone from every team possible. Well, i'll give them the tunnel rat without anything in return though.

If Kidd walks away, there is something fishy going on behind the scenes specially with Flagg coming in. Unless he really doesn't like Nico as much as we think.

Simpler explanation is he's looking for an extension/raise.

Could be. But Knicks need permission to talk to him, so they contacted Mavs first. If Kidd launched this whole thing then it would have been more obvious. I don't know what will happen, you never know with tunnel rat. But my best guess is, Nico has "his" guys around him now, why would he break up stuff? Like you said, he'll probably just extend Kidd for another 2-3 years and call it a day.

Trading for coaches has happened, but the team usually doesn't get much.

1. Mike Dunleavy, Sr.

Dunleavy, Sr. was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Milwaukee Bucks for two second-round picks.

2. Pat Riley.

Pat Riley left the New York Knicks for the Miami Heat in 1995.

The NBA investigated the Heat and Riley for tampering, and eventually decided that the Knicks should be compensated with a first-round pick, as well as $1 million cash.

3. Stan Van Gundy.

In 2007, Van Gundy was traded from the Miami Heat to the Orlando Magic.

The agreed-upon price for Van Gundy was two 2nd round picks in the 2008 NBA Draft.

4. Doc Rivers.

In 2013, five years after leading the Boston Celtics to a title, Doc Rivers was traded from the Celtics to the Los Angeles Clippers for a 2015 1st-round pick.

5. Jason Kidd.
In 2014, the Brooklyn Nets traded Jason Kidd to the Milwaukee Bucks for two second-round picks.

Bingo! That’s exactly what Kidd is leveraging this into.

Kidd is not talking to Knicks, he's not allowed, Knicks are talking to Mavs, he's not doing anything, yet. If it comes to talks then you can say he's trying to twist Nico's arm.

The New York Knicks are expected to formally request permission from the Dallas Mavericks to speak with Jason Kidd about their head coaching vacancy. The Knicks parted ways with Tom Thibodeau shortly after the end of the Eastern Conference Finals. Kidd signed a two-year extension in May 2024

Some league sources have described the New York's interest as "serious" and some believe Kidd is atop the team's wish list. Kidd interviewed for the Knicks' job with Leon Rose in 2020 when the job eventually went to Thibodeau. Kidd was head coach of the Mavericks in 2021-22 when Jalen Brunson had a breakout season before signing with the Knicks in free agency that offseason.

"I think the relationship that me and J-Kidd have is very unique," Brunson said after becoming a Knick.

Kidd&Harrison have a strong connection... If Kidd fall is the first move of a domino i'm ok even to gift him.

This organization is viewed like a toxic one (just see Flagg reaction after the lottery), we need to clean the sheet.

If they let Kidd go so it's means that we don't want to contend soon and build around Flagg then Harrison plan doesn't exists and he can go out of Texas too.

Goodbye to all this ****.

I saw this on reddit and thought it was interesting.

DAL receives: Vassell + #14 + 2 SRPs
SA receives: PJ + Gaff

Seemed to be liked by both fanbases. What do yall think? Ideally we convince them to get our pick swap back too.

Hell no. PJ&Gafford have more value... Vassell is overrated and overpaid. No way.

However trade them before street clothes is stupid, they are young and healthy. No need to dump them

I think you can get the 10th pick from Houston for either player.

Stein on ESPN: "Jason Kidd is the coach that both Kyrie and AD want."

I think he stays. But with a beefed up staff.

I dont mind it if we are in full rebuild mode.

That trade doesn't address immediate needs though so unless there is a subsequent trade involving AD it makes absolutely no sense for us.

The fans may not want all of them. But my gut feel is the owner will want to see it through. At least for the duration of their contracts.

Fans telling Dumont to fire everyone for a clean slate is like me sending a message to Warren Buffet to sell his stake at Invidia. Wonder if he takes my advice.

You and me (we) may or may not want Kidd. But saying stuff online rarely makes an impact. It has as much of an effect as me teaching a billionaire how to run things which I'd love to by the way. Having to run things and have someone shoulder the capital and the risk. Using someone else's money is how you get rich.

If Dumont was smart, he'd add a clause in Nico's contract for him to share the risk. He's free to make all the GM moves he wants, but if the team goes below 60 wins for the season, he doesn't get any of his annual salary and bonuses. That way it's shared risk.

The way I see it, Nico is piggybacking off Dumont, who's also piggybacking off Adelson's wallet. That's why Nico isn't fired yet because doing so means Patty boy over here farmed out his work and he's responsible for it in his mother in law's eyes.
