It'd have to be some sort of 3 team trade I'd guess with RJ going to the third team. Real rough outline of a trade with SAS NY and TOR

TOR sends out:

RJ
Poetl
Dick
(whatever picks are needed)

TOR receives:

KAT

NY sends out:

KAT

NY receives:
Poelt
Keldon Johnson
Dick
Picks

SAS Sends out:

Keldon Johnson

SAS Receives:

RJ Barreet

Yuck.

Double Yuck.

Giannis, Durant, and others are far better options. Kat is going to be the face of a franchise that never wins the championship

For Knicks I'd take Agbaji instead of Gradey

I get Giannis but is KD really worth more than KAT now, at KDs age?

You can't win with KAT no matter how much time you have. KD, assuming he isn't washed, has more than proven himself. The same reason it makes sense for NY to do it straight up. A better chance to actually win it all.

Probably only way to make the money work. Also KAT still carries value around the league, we aren't getting him for the same package we got BI for.

I have zero desire to see Big Purr fail to play defense in a Raptors jersey if this is how he winds up here.

Horrific asset mismanagement to target him. Like RJ, Poeltl, Dick and picks? For Karl? That is grotesque.

I assume KD is roughly same or lower cost than Kat... I don't think either of them a great raptors fit, but I'd do KD over Kat just because you getting the same offensive impact without the terrible defense at your critical defensive position.

Kat, Sabonis, Joker... All good players, but you have to build a proper roster around them to win despite them being great players.

Also we're now in a point where you have to be 8 deep to have a realist shot. Teams like Raptors, Knicks, Spurs, Houston are in positions that there is enough assets to do a big deal without killing the depth. Brooklyn has the assets but it sounds like they aren't going to rush the process.

why in the world would you want to bail out the Knicks by taking on Kat, and giving anything of value!

Maybe if you thought a 7 foot all-star and All NBA 3rd team player, and a stretch 5 who averaged 24 and 12, would do better in Darko's system than NYKs. Not saying Raptors will do it, but it's not like some unthinkable scenario

There is no doubt in my mind that KAT would have his best season ever under Darko. As I said before the salary makes it difficult. But the Knicks would be foolish to move him. They spent so many years with disciplined approach and then went too far making changes in my opinion and backed themselves into a bit of a corner. If they hadn’t made the Bridges trade and just the KAT trade, they would probably been about as good and had the ability to make adjustments. But now they need to stop and put a new guy in place not make giant roster changes again. That being said, Bridges for Jarrett Allen would solve a lot of their issues. Though that would be basically Jarrett Allen for 5 1sts which would sting.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Agree about the Knicks. If they had stood pat with Randle and DDV last summer and just got a serviceable C until Robinson came back , they might have had as good a season as they just did, and be in a better position now for Giannis. In other words they had been patient as you said but then made the big splash a year too early.

I like your Bridges for Allen trade but not sure it's likely

it really comes back to the bridges deal - all those unprotected picks for a non-star was just madness. they would've had a bunch of expirings mid-season and all those picks - most likely have gotten KD at the deadline.

Sorry Walt, no way would I trade anything of value for Kat. As much as he gets, he gives it up on the other end. Are we going to pretend that his teammates didn't yell at him, I believe he even got benched in the fourth quarter by Thibs for his lack of D.

This is why Derik Queen is a DND for me.

Though, I think Kat complements Scottie very well.

So, no one talking about yesterday’s wiretap that says we’re aggressively pursuing KD?

I’m not sure why we have this thread if everything is just getting dumped in there. Anyway, it was discussed for a couple pages and then they went back to talking about Giannis.
