Two pretty different mid-season prospect lists.

First is Keith Law's Top 50, who remains steadfast in his unwillingness to buy into lower level hype (unless they were mega hyped by him heading into prospect status):

#15 - Jeferson Quero
#28 - Jesus Made
#38 - Cooper Pratt

He says he makes his list placing more emphasis on tools or adjustments as opposed to performance. In the comments section he basically dismisses Carolina's loaded team because the whole team has hit there. He still believes Misiorowski is a reliever, despite his obvious improvements.

Just Baseballalso update their top 100:

#7 - Jesus Made 60 FV
#12 - Luis Pena(!) 60 FV
#20 - Jacob Misiorowski 55+ FV
#32 - Jeferson Quero 55 FV
#52 - Cooper Pratt 50+ FV
#94 - Eric Bitonti 50 FV

Highest I've seen Pena ranked, but I believe in it.

There seems to be a lot of randomness in these types of prospect lists.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

If Dinges is your 30th best prospect, you have a crazy deep system.

Ernesto Martinez is blocked at 1B, but he's the favorite to take over for Hoskins next year. He's more of a selective line drive guy, but when he connects he nukes the ball. He's gonna be a fun one to watch.

Luis Peña, SS, Brewers
Preseason Top 30 rank: 9
Current Top 30 rank: 3 (MLB No. 31)
The Brewers struck gold with their 2024 international class. Jesús Made headlines the group—and ranks No. 4 on our Top 100 for that matter—but Peña isn’t too far behind and could one day have his own case as baseball’s potential No. 1 prospect. The 18-year-old infielder has shown a significant power jump, hitting five home runs at Low-A Carolina after managing just one in 44 DSL games. He’s also pounding the ball with top-end exit velocities despite a modest 5-foot-11, 185-pound frame. Mix in his feel for the barrel and speed, and Peña has superstar potential. (JC)

Ethan Dorchies, RHP, Brewers
The Brewers signed Dorchies for $162,500 in the 10th round last July out of Cary-Grove (IL) HS. After not pitching following the draft, he made his debut this spring in the Arizona Complex League. Over six appearances spanning 27 total innings, he has pitched to a 1.67 ERA with a 30.5% strikeout rate to a 7.6% walk rate.

Over those six appearances, Dorchies has three scoreless outings of four or more innings already. Mixing five pitch shapes with above-average command gives Dorchies a starting pitcher’s foundation, and its his high level of pitchability that has allowed him to succeed thus far.

Dorchies’ stuff is just average, and he features a four-seam fastball, cutter, sinker, slider and splitter. His fastball sits 89-91 mph, touching 94 mph at peak. What he lacks in velocity, however, Dorchies makes up for with unique traits. He gets 6.7 feet of extension, generating 16-17 inches of vertical break on average from a 5-foot-8 release height. This, coupled with above-average fastball command, allows Dorchies to generate whiffs at a rate of 48% overall and 33% in-zone. Added velocity in the coming years could push his heater into plus territory.

Dorchies’ primary secondary is a cutter in the mid-to-high-80s that generates whiffs at a high rate. He also blends in a sweeper slider in the low 80s and a low-80s splitter with good vertical separation off his fastball.

Dorchies has an exciting and well-rounded arsenal with remaining projection. This was a true draft find by the Brewers.

I don't think he ever hits well enough, but he's only 20 and he's already just a ridiculous defender.

Anxious to see how he does. He'll have to be added to the 40-Man this winter because he'll be Rule 5 eligible.
