If JB is really our #1 target, I can see no reason we don't hire him immediately unless the FO throws a Kidd smokescreen to lowball JB

Hiring him now would take away from the NBA Finals going on, and the media outlets would have a logistical problem having to come to New York for the press conference.

The hire will be announced after the Finals, or if Dolan wants to be spiteful towards Adam Silver, whom he seems to dislike, he might do it while the Finals are going on.

I hope the whole chasing Kidd thing is a smokescreen, firing a coach that took you into the ecf for the first time in 25 years just to chase a coach from another team would be going straight backwards to the mid 2000s. I’m not even a Thibs guy but if it ends up being Kidd then what was the point? I’m going to assume Leon is actually hiring Bryant.

I’m guilty of the first part, no way in hell on the second my friend. I value my time with my children too much to be a coach. Coaching them in rec is enough for me.

I just want a coach that knows X and O. I don't want 100% of our offense to just be ISO. Look at Indys offense everyone touches the ball. I feel like Mitch would be a beast if we draw up some easy buckets for him.

Leon and the front office had built a reputation for a slow methodical build. Now the reports about Kidd, and the "tsunami" offer for Giannis, sound like a return to the star hunting if the past.

I hope they hire Bryant and make small tweaks to the roster

I think its about the optics. They want to make it seem like they did a complete search because the majority of Knick fans would view a Bryant signing without a complete search as a negative.

I was thinking that but then again I havent watched Giannis closely in years. I drafted him in Bat when no one saw anything in him. I also have no idea about who Kidd is as a coach. I do know that firing Thibs when we did is something that this organization has never done.
And just for the record. I would hire Bryant if I was in charge and consult with him about players coming and going...
