I don't have any inside info from the Knicks, but it just seems strange that Leon would want real info to be leaking about some of his most important potential moves. So ... is it possible Leon purposely leaked disinformation to distract from his real moves? Remember, the league doesn't like it when deals are discussed prematurely before they're permitted. So leaking disinformation is one way to show "We're making a really wide search and we didn't settle on our actual choice until the end of that long process?"

Even if they already made a handshake deal with him and wanted to pretend to do a real search they could just interview a few of the available people. Why do you assume the Kidd story was leaked by NY? And Leon doesn't need to move is silence for any move, that's just his MO.
