we'd be lucky that one of the centers would be available when we pick at 9. doubt they will be TBH

Jalon Moore is probably going to be a better pro than Adou Thiero (if he can't learn to shoot).

Good get at #39.

I'm torn between him and Watkins. He's not the playmaker Watkins is, and while he has all the tools he's not as good a defender yet. Conversely, he's a better shooteer right now, and more explosively athletic.

I don't see him ranked on a lot of boards so I'm hoping we can get him undrafted, as I'm mulling Kalkbrenner, Watkins, Yang, and Markovic at 39.

To me, Kalk, Yang and Markovic should all be in the 20's with the players returning to college.

I think we should look at Watkins at 39 not only because of the defense and scoring, but also the obvious is chemistry.

He is connected to Scottie through Scottie's brother Jason Simpson. Even said in an interview if he were building an FSU team he'd build first with Scottie Barnes.

The mentality and work ethic fit Toronto and that he is a play-now player is what we looked for throughout the second round last year.

The thing that drives OKC and Indy this year is not just the talent of SGA and Hali, but the depth and buddy system they have formed. Those team's run deep both from depth but also from team chemistry. It is why the Pacers are called a 48 min. team and why OKC just swarms you all game long.

Coaching and chemistry is the cheat code, not swinging for aging superstars, as we have seen fail time after time.

Dalek wrote:I would love the Raptors to be daring and draft Danny Wolf at 9. He has so much ball skill at his size and more potential than Queen because he can shoot and is bigger. I just wonder if Toronto is that willing to be weird.

My experience watching Wolf and Queen:

Wolf:
- Highlight reels: Holy moly, this guy looks amazing - he should absolutely be a lottery pick
- Actual games: He doesn't play anywhere near his 7-foot size, very careless with the ball

Queen:
- Highlight reels: Unathletic, funky jumper, doesn't look suited to modern game
- Actual games: Sneakily atheltic w/ rare body control, good touch and feel, matchup problem

So I see Wolf as more of a novelty who doesn't impact the game nearly as much as he should, given his size and skill. And I think Queen could very easily reach Sengun levels.

I made that comparison a few draft threads back.

Draft is 18 days away and no news on which top prospects they've worked out.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Wonder if this is smoke

But interesting nonetheless

Wonder if they would reach for Sorber

And who knows on Queen

This screams Queen IMO or maybe it’s dropping down for Sorber or Wolf ?

Yeah IMO this absolutely screams Derik Queen.

Dark horse is CMB to me. His physical measurements are most similar to Draymond, a C in small ball lineups.

I’m surprised more people aren’t seeing Queen as being a Raps FO darling. He embodies so much of what they’ve looked for in a draft prospect the last few years: high bball IQ, processing speed, toughness, passer/playmaker. I think he’d fit right in with Darko’s system.

I see some Jermaine O'Neal like qualities in his game.

Cool, but CMB is better at all of those things than Queen and is actually good on defense plus can guard multiple positions.

He has that old school meat and potatoes game with a little bit of the modern element mixed in. I think he’s the best big in the draft, but that’s without lingering foot issues.

I’ve come a long way on him because I was totally off his bandwagon mid season because of his performances against the top competition, but it seems like a bit of an overplayed argument to me.

One of Queen or Maluach should be available at 9. Queen gives me the type of feeling that Damantas Sabonis or Sengun give me, in that he doesn't have ideal measurements/ physical traits of your typical franchise C, but the guy can just play ball with good instincts, smarts, understanding angles, seeing teammates, nose for the ball, etc. Also, seems like a good kid and there is still some room for him to improve conditioning which could give some additional athleticism you'd think. If he can be an average defender I believe he will be a very good player.

Jase Richardson, Kasparas Jakucionis, Derik Queen worked out yesterday in Toronto.
