Marc Stein:

The Suns are planning to keep Booker in the fold with the team for as long as possible.

Phoenix is expected to offer Booker a two-year extension worth $150 million this season. This would keep Booker under contract with the Suns through the 2029-30 season. The star guard has three years and $171 million remaining on the four-year, $200 million extension he signed with Phoenix in 2022.

The Suns are expected to reshape the roster around Booker this offseason. Despite reported trade interest, Phoenix has made it known that they plan to keep Booker long-term. Involving him in the coaching search, followed by an incoming extension offer only makes that more concrete.

Hence, why Booker wants to stay in Phoenix when the media, bloggers, podcasters push that as a reason to not trade - "he wants to be here so we can't trade DBook!!." He is getting 320m for five years. That is why he wants to STAY in Phoenix.

So, if this is what they plan on doing - create a similar team that he was most successful around. Hence, why the Knicks trade has appeal to me, though I know the injury history of Robinson and OG -- but I think in Robinson, OG, Dunn with Booker - -that might be the best way to recreate the team around Booker. Plus its not like OG and Robinson are old - they are slightly younger than Booker so on the same time line.

Actually trying to talk myself into the Knicks trade because if you are keeping Booker - try to maximize his prime years and that would be with players getting into their prime years. Now if Houston offers the Suns Jabari, filler and a couple of the Suns picks - that is still my first choice.

Make no mistake. That's not recreating anything until you find a CP3.

Like, lol.

Well they just fired their coach who got them to that level. So yes, I believe they will think this is a good idea. Teams panic when they taste the ECF and fail.

Sorta like a Western conference team from a couple of years ago.

Which is why he wants to stretch Beal

This has been my theory all along — it was money

If he truly has cash flow issues - extending Booker would be something he would do for show -- to show the fans he is still willing to spend the money. But if true
Look for the Durant trade to be something where they bring back a lot less cash. Like Harrison Barnes -- he could easily be a buyout candidate later to save money

A Beal stretch - would save Ishbia money

Trading O'Neale and Allen and bring back less

It would also mean he could sell the team, hopefully soon.

Extending Booker is the right move. Shows loyalty.
Trading him is not a good look to other players. Reward loyalty with loyalty.

he’s always said he wanted to stay in phx. Before all the money, before the finals. It seems like you just flip through a Rolodex of reasons a few times a week to deamonize Booker.

50 minute video - whats this about in 1-2 sentences please, from anyone who listened?

per chatgpt

Here’s a concise 5‑sentence summary of the video:

Pablo Torre dives into the astonishing tale of an NBA team owner whose controversial actions and questionable deal-making turned him into an unlikely but calculated success.

The episode uncovers surprising financial maneuvers—some ethically dubious—through exclusive interviews and deep investigative reporting.

By exploring the historical context of team ownership and league expansion, Torre reveals how structural loopholes allowed the owner to exploit the system.

Despite pushback from players, fans, and league officials, the owner’s aggressive tactics ultimately yielded him both power and profit.

The story culminates in a broader reflection on the business of professional sports—questioning whether chasing success “by any means necessary” erodes integrity in the game.

I kinda agree here. This is probably the best deal for a win now, no picks situation. It would give us a PG and a lot of defence. I could live with this deal.

I think he is overrated and they should not extend him. This last season.. what did he do , KD with Booker.. to uplift the team. I just think and Durant are happy scoring and hooping.

Matt the Suns franchise undertaker brings black jerseys for the new season. Saber still approves. No surprise there.
