Sinner blew triple match point in the 4th set due to nerves. Suddenly his shots got loose and wayward. Crazy.

This is absolutely brutal how they make the loser hold a set of steak knives and give a speech.

They should do this in the NBA too, force the losing team to give concession speeches

5 slams at 22 for Carlos is wild. Same tally as Nadal at that age (but with 2 more opportunities to add to it).

This is why people say salty ****.

Fans and media eviscerated Aryna yesterday, and she was super salty, but what do they expect? Let the players cool off and gather their thoughts.

Alcaraz pretty much has men’s tennis on lock. The 20-30 major wins arc is back on

Actually wasn't she salty afterwards in the presscon? She was gracious in the public speech IIRC

Yeah. But I mean all types of interviews should be conducted after a bit more time has passed IMO (like a few hours, or even next day). 1v1 sports are mentally draining.

Get Alcaraz a translator man. Speeches in your native language are hard enough as it is, sheez, let him speak Spanish

Tennis has that etiquette built in. It's expected to be your gracious best at all moments, perhaps all the more so in difficult times. So players get put into excruciating circumstances while another experiences his or her most exhilarating.

That said, yeah SO HARD to have to do it.

I hated when people would dunk on Nadal for his English his entire career. Not everyone is a polyglot. And why the **** are the interviews even in English? Like you said, just have a translator on hand.

That was the highest level tennis match I've seen in a long time. Shame that there had to be a loser. Sinner and Alcaraz are probably going to redefine the GOAT debate in 10 years time.

It'll be interesting to see if they go unchallenged for 20 years/keep raising their level like the Big-3 did, or if a new crop of kids comes along to challenge them. Past generations have seen a constant stream of new challengers appearing every few years. The Big-3 was unique in that 2-3 generations came up without a serious threat (Delpo was one, but injuries derailed his career). Even the Big-3 was really a Big-4 with Murray consistently competing with them.

The difference is that Spaniards have less incentive to learn English than others because you can get by speaking Spanish pretty much anywhere in the world.

The French are similar in that regard.

It's a bit different if you're Italian or German where you basically have to learn English, otherwise you're stuck.

This duo is quickly separating itself from the rest of the field:

Thank god Brian Anderson was calling this match and not Lefkoe

I'd argue it's more so the fact that it's much easier to learn English if your native language is German (same language family) than if it's Spanish/French/Italian. Most Italian athletes struggle with English as well.
