Completely forgot about Laimbeer's condition when signing up. I guess we can postpone the clock.

If Laimbeer doesn't show up to pick before, the clock is extended until 5pm EDT (i.e. starts at 3pm).

Possibly Laimbeer thought New Jersey should be part of this? But yeah they aren't

I'll keep the extension on. Give more time for Laimbeer to complete a valid pick.

I was kind of thinking they should be, but nonetheless they were not as the rules were outlined.

I thought about it but I thought it might be a slippery slope. Didn't want to include them and then miss some other older franchises / older franchise names. For example, for Dr J you can claim he should be in because of Virginia Squires as well

Could have easily drawn the line at existing franchises.

Yeah, still, I didn't want to complicate myself. I'd still need to check every franchise name the existing ones ever had to ensure I'm consistent and not missing anything.

Anyhow, it is what it is. We won't add franchises now.

E.g.: quick check - Texas Chaparrals is definitely not one I would've remembered without a thorough check, and it belongs to an existing franchise.

Correct. Just unfortunate we waited so long for an invalid pick.

That's true, but it should've been avoided with a careful rule-reading. Anyhow, I should've probably delayed the start of the draft a day further anyhow, given Laimbeer's comment when signing up.

The start time is fine. Laimbeer was able to show up well before the extended deadline.

Yeah but if I noticed that in the beginning, I would've used a postponed start time to begin with, to respect Laimbeer's request. The reason I'm still keeping the extension is that I'm assuming, based on Laimbeer's initial request, that even if he showed up, he's probably pretty busy, so it doesn't hurt to give another breathing room, within reason.

Appreciate it. On the way home it occurred to me that Doc was not eligible. I can't say that there was anyone on the board that was the clear next pic unless I am missing someone. Feels like a drop after SGA

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Not that it matters at this point, but OKC's name doesn't actually refer to the state at all.
