Knicks needed better corner 3 point shooting in the playoffs. If we can’t get Donte, we need to get Malik Beasley.

No it doesn't. Way too little back for a top 10-12 player in MVP voting this year.
I like Kat but he is nowhere near a top 10-12 player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting herb and Murphy allows to get more athletic and better defensively(which helps Brunson immensely)without losing kats shooting gravity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s a perfect trade if we’re being honest with ourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't belittle KATs value. Thibs defense magnified his weaknesses. And by all advanced metrics he was one of the best players on the floor for us last year.
I think you’re underestimating how good Trey Murphy and herb jones are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also I don’t think you truly understand how bad a Brunson and Kat defense is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Together it’s not going to work if you want to win a championship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can hide one of them defensively but you can’t hide both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Which is why I think we’ll move off of Kat sooner or later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leon and Dolan aren’t trading Brunson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUICK NOTE:
For anyone interested we have 2 openings in BAF (Build a Franchise) SIM league that is going on year 9. We basically follow real life production and then do a year SIM with draft/trades/and lineup changes throughout the season. We just finished our season 8 and we are just starting our offseason. Re: Trades and Transactions Thread - 2025 Cont'd
Don’t get me wrong…. Mitch was a real reason we won games in the playoffs this year. HOWEVER, he is an expiring contract that isn’t reliable health-wise and his stock will never be higher and I feel like we need to look around the league (in the West) and see what we could net back in return.
Josh Hart was great this regular season for us, but come playoff time, his lack of shooting comes back to hurt the offense for stretches, but he does so many things that done show on the stat sheet that can win you games.
I feel like there is one team that makes sense as a trade partner for what we need and what they need.
The Sacramento Kings
SAC needs: athleticism next to Sabonis, good contracts, guys that can provide things outside of scoring

If he goes somewhere else, it is gonna be to start or at least get starter-level money.
We only have the taxpayer MLE available which is about $6 million

Another thing to keep in mind going forward:
KAT will be making close to 60mill. till 2028 + Brunson 40mill. + OG 40mill. + Hart 20mill. + Bridges 40mill......
That would mean 200mill. just between 5 guys. Is that even sustainable going forward?
I really don't think so. I think there is actually no choice but to deal at least one of the guys for like 2 rotation players. With the new CBA I don't think you can legitimately commit 200mill. to just 5 players. It will cripple you going forward as you would be in 2nd Apron territory the entire time.

at least one of Bridges or Hart should get traded for a reliable shooter and willing defender, not just stricky and part time ones
We will need to extend Bridges because trading 5 FRPs for 2 years will not be a good look. If Hart has to go, then I will understand. Bridges has guarded one of the two best players every game, Bridges is still a good shooter.
If you trade Hart, a Ben Simmons will be a key signing. It basically replaces Hart but Ben Simmons cannot play crunch time players (arse in FTs).
Ben Simmons is LITERALLY a perfect back up to Jalen Brunson. Because he supplements everything that Brunson doesnt do as well or doesn't have. He has height/length, he rebounds, he plays excellent defense. If Brunson is having an off game you play him a few more minutes or when protecting a lead at the end of games. He basically is a better defensive version of Josh Hart at a fraction of the price.
You forgot to mention create. Not passing....creating....Brunson passes, Ben can create. The difference is a pass goes to an open man, a creation gets a guy open. Ben does that, he's a creator, a gifted PG in that department, something Brunson sorely lacks. Simmons biggest gift in my book is his peripheral vision, it's what great playmakers have. If Kolek isn't ready to step up, Ben would be a great playmaker on the team as well.
Ben Simmons, in the clamp down lineup...

Grimes did not have a 22 ppg season so that actually is funny that you think he did. But he did put up numbers on his 3rd team since leaving NY. It just happened to be a wasted season for that team with everybody injuries and them being lottery bound but Grimes found comfort in getting his opportunity to shoot 20-25 times a game which is very ironic considering his complaint.
Obi barely saw an increase in minutes and production so he could have certainly still played less than 20 minutes a night in New York and given us the same spark off the bench but he thought he would get traded to a team that would provide him a better opportunity however they didn’t do him any favors. They traded for Siakam and pretty much sealed his fate as a bench player who plays 20 mpg. Could have done that on the Knicks too.
Yes he had a 22ppg season with the Sixers and not only he didn't shoot 25 times a game but he actually improved his fg% while shooting more so i don't understand where the irony is. I don't think u know what irony means.
Yes Toppin went from a 7 rotation team to a 10 rotation team and "barely" improved his minutes and points. lol
Yes u convinced me with your dick ridding, definitely not two bad trades because of thibs idiocy.
He’s played on 4 teams in the last 2 years. Nobody cares what he put up on that trash Sixers team. You still didn’t answer my question, if it was the coach then why is it that the guy who stole his spot played better than him? If it was the coach then why did Donte not have issues getting shots or finding his fit? The answer is it wasn’t Thibs but it was Grimes. Whatever his excuse might be for why he stunk that last year, injuries or whatever it was, the fact still remains that he absolutely stunk and the guy who took his spot thrived.
Obi wanted out because he thought he would become a starter and play more minutes. He never got that and basically plays the same minutes and role just in a style that suits him better.
Grimes is an better overall player than Divo, and he had more expectations of himself and Thibs neutered him. When you watch him handle the ball, shoot, drive, you could tell he had some game, but he was relegated to standing in the corner for threes...don't know why this is a surprise, there's a quote here somewhere where he talked about it.
Divo played better because his less talented game required him to run around, get open and bomb shots, which is what Thibs wanted from him, nothing else. If he had to drive or handle the rock, it was back to whoever gave him the ball. Grimes was capable of more. Here's the irony...Thibs didn't even play Divo until it was absolutely necessary (as usual

One thing Dante had over Grimes was confidence, though....you're right, it's on Grimes too, he should've bombed away, but he wasn't as good as Dante at relocating for open shots and like he said in the interview, those 1 or 2 open shots he would get during his entire time...it was make it or bust. If he didn't have an open shot, his instinct was to create, not give it up and go find another spot to get open like Dante did, and he would do it shakily because he knew a turnover here or a blocked shot there, and he's benched. That **** with a young players confidence......so yeah....that's on Thib's, too.

There are a lot of funny things in this world.
Grimes did not have a 22 ppg season so that actually is funny that you think he did. But he did put up numbers on his 3rd team since leaving NY. For Philly last season, he averaged 21.9 PPG on 16.4 FGA in 33.7 MPG with 1.5 STL, 4.5 A and 5.2 REB
For Dallas last season, he averaged 10.2 PPG on 7.8 FGA in 22.8 MPG with 0.7 STL, 2.1 A and 3.8 REB
Solid production on both teams relative to minutes.
In Philly, he broke out once he had the greenlight, but he still only averaged 16.4 FGA despite what you think.
You can find any angle anytime you want to discount his Philly numbers. If he had failed you would have said he couldn't handle being a featured player.
But, instead, when he thrives when featured you say it doesn't count because the team was tanking.
Either way, you're going to discount what he did.
Grimes got plenty of chances under Thibs.
They moved him in the process of trying to go deep in the playoffs kind of move, probably short sighted.
Grimes developed his game some but also got lots of touches for a team deep in the tank.
All can be true at the same time.

Josh Hart + Wash 1st for Malik Monk financially works out.
Our 6th man situation would be handled, our need for instant offense would be handled, our need for hot 3 point shooting would be handled, etc..
I wonder if that is enticing enough for SAC however
