If Green Arrow is right, Dolan has been talking to IT again, he might have made his influence felt.

Won't know the reality for like 10 years (maybe two with how petty this world has been lately) but firing Thibs without having a guy is purely psychotic.

It’s going to be Johnny Bryant. Knicks waiting for the Finals to end before making the announcement.

If a coach is not confident in being able to fix the problems this Knicks team faces (inability to communicate, quitting several games during the playoffs, a stagnant offense, inability to use a bench) and is not leaping at the opportunity to coach a pretty talented team that was two wins away from the Finals with all those issues...then that coach is not the right one for this team

Kerr, particularly, I think. Jeff van Gundy had a wealth of experience as an assistant coach in the NBA. Kerr had been the GM of the Suns for 4 years, but had no specific coaching experience. JJ Redick would be similar. Bryant is more in the line of JvG.

johnnie was the associate hc here during thibs' time; that means he was the deputy when it could have been another veteran coach like woodson or kidd

imma think the front office trust bryant's experience, knowledge and capabilities enough for him to be next in line to lead the team

Bryant and Terry Stotts as lead assistant. That's my preference. Gotta go all in on offense.

I think Bryant is the choice ... if Giannis doesn't want to come to the Knicks and have Kidd as the HC. Kidd as HC is also very acceptable to Brunson, so there's no friction there. I mean, if Giannis wants to come to the Knicks and play for Kidd that seems like a decent solution. If he doesn't then Bryant is probably close to a lock, regardless of other trades. (Like I've said 100 times in 30 other threads imo the Knicks should go for Tiago Splitter if they are going for someone without NBA head-coach experience - which would be totally reasonable, but I just don't see the Knicks FO having that imagination.)

Thank you Nico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or Leon was 1 step ahead and knew all this time they'd get denied permission by the Mavs and he was never their #1

Just a total smokescreen to lowball Bryant
How is Bryant getting lowballed? He can ask for the moon now.

By not having him in publicly rumored discussion, he thinks he's not in the running or at the bottom of our consideration list...

If you're trying to be a hc for the first time, and a Knicks job is available, it's maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity just as he's ascending to be a hc... from this perspective he is the one that has more to lose.

I mean let's face it if JB was a can't miss coach prospect, teams like the Wizards, or even Bucks or Blazers would fire their coaches Doc/ Chauncey to hire him, but he's not. He may be up and coming but the reality is he just got passed over for another assistant on his same Cavs team, which unfairly but basically says he's not even their top assistant.

If the Knicks suddenly reach out to him and offer him $5 mil per instead of the $10-12 mil per top coaches command thesedays, he is really in no position to turn it down. A position in a big market, with a championship-worthy/ready roster (it's not like he has to grind it out on a team like the Wizards, a blemish to his coaching record to start if they don't make playoffs for the next few years), a real chance to make a name for himself, even if we don't make the Finals, I think he can EASILY improve on our 51 win record. That in itself would be a good start to ANY coaching career.

Capn'O wrote:Regarding Jenkins, he's kind of like a reverse Thibs (in terms of style) where people have essays against what he does but he gets results.

I like TJ too... like Bill Simmons said everytime I watched the Grizzlies in years past, I couldn't help but think it's a well coached team. They tweaked things by having less screens with Ja which was not TJ's doing.

Dolan getting involved is not a good sign. And the fact that we fired Thibs with no plan is hilarious.

Does anyone know why Bryant left for the same role in Cleveland?
