The betting markets still has Milwaukee has short priced favourites to have Giannis next season.
Make of that what you will.
Toronto apparently will turn their attention to Durant as their fall back option if Giannis doesn't ask for a trade.

The funny part is he never requested a trade. This is just speculation from the media trying to get him to demand out.

And wishful thinking from fans desperate to have Giannis on their team.
What I find most galling is the player Stans who want Giannis to ring chase and try join a legit contender.
Really grinds my gears.
I don't think it's a great look if the likes of Giannis and Joker end their careers outside of The Bucks and Nuggets.
Loyalty should be rewarded not criticised imho.

Its this every year. Giannis ain't leaving.
I wouldn't have blamed him if he looked at the decision making, then said I'm out. But it's becoming clearer that it's not going down that way.

There has been a lot of misconceptions about Giannis over the years, like the he supposedly doesn't get along with Dame which is a load of nonsense.
He is one of the games best and most entertaining players and figures, he seemed very happy celebrating the Bucks mid season tournament win with Dame and his team mates.

There are a lot of things that have irked me about this ordeal. It's hard to choose one.
But I'll highlight the corporate/click-bait media conveniently ignoring any stronger evidence that goes against their narrative, like Jim O of the Milwaukee Journal reporting the team met w/ Giannis & he reaffirmed he's happy. They've also said nothing about him liking tweets saying he's going nowhere or him putting down even more roots in Milwaukee.
Conversely, they'll get giddy about some vague report of "open-mindedness" & "mutual interest" from rival teams. And twist comments like "I'd be disappointed if I didn't win MY TEAM (the Bucks his whole career so far) more than 1 championship. Or a troll, while on Bucks' time, that he'd like all the foreign stars in big markets. Giannis acknowledged life's more fun being a troll.
This rumor-mongering all goes into odds. Although I'm sure some more serious degenerate bettors have taken future bets he's staying because they have done more research outside the corporate/click-bait media.

Bucks fans are being really weird about this. This isn't really a media creation, this is a "everyone who can evaluate talent" creation.
The current Bucks roster is
Giannis
Kuzma
Pat Connaughton
Kevin Porter Jr
Tyler Smith
AJ Green
Andre Jackson Jr.
How many of these guys would play more than 12 minutes per game on a playoff team? Literally zero other than Giannis. They have Bropez and Portis and Gary Trent Jr as free agents they can re-sign, but Giannis+Lillard+Kuzma alone make up 84.5% of the cap and the team is so bad that their free agents may look elsewhere. They have traded away all their picks, Lillard's career is over, Kuzma has somehow forgot how to play basketball. This is a brutal roster with no hope whatsoever of improving. It's possible Giannis is OK playing on a 37 win team that struggles to get out of the play-in for the rest of his prime, but most league observers would view that as pretty surprising.

Vultures are really weird about this where they'd move the goal-posts from "here's this ambiguous info he's probably on the move" to "I think he should be on the move". All while ignoring facts Giannis met w/ the team & reinforced he's happy + is liking tweets saying he's staying.
Regardless if your projections for the Bucks outlook were true, there's no urgency to move this offseason. Giannis influenced a lot of the personnel/coach decisions so he owes them a chance to reset post Dame injury & there would be the same amount of ring chances by the deadline. In the meantime the Bucks can see what they do in FA, which has been a major strong-suit w/ far less resources than the MLE. And ideally they'd fire the worst coach in the league who were holding them back last season/in the playoffs.
And you're just flat out ignorant, while portraying your word as sacrosanct. The Bucks were 16-8 w/out Dame (would have been 17-7 if not for 1 game the league admit they stole). Giannis had a +21 net rating w/ KPJ (21/7/7/2 per 36), +5 w/ Dame. The fit w/ the latter never worked. The Bucks were #1 in the NBA in 3 pt efficiency. That's not Giannis making those. Shooting & defense around Giannis is a formula to still be good, though great is a long shot. The Bucks literally had a game slip thru their hands at the Pacers the one time Doc switched to a non-insane lineup.
So the Bucks aren't what you say now, let alone after. Season after next they can trade Dame as a huge expiring for good player(s) or let contracts lapse and have cap space for running mates. So even if they had down years like the Lakers had w/ Kobe, they could recover to contend on the back end. That's provided Giannis commits for that long.

Re: Haynes: Giannis, Bucks Meeting Next Week to Discuss the Direction of the Team
I believe he stays this season since the team doesn't want to trade him.
I also believe he won't re-sign again with the Bucks in 2 seasons.
If the Bucks have a bad season (which is highly possible since they have Doc Rivers as HC) i think next summer is going to be dramatic for them. Like Lebron's last season in Cleveland in 2009.
Milwaukee will probably panic since i see no way how they're going to convince him to re-sign after the next season.
The difference is that Cavs back then('09) were significantly better than the current Bucks and the Eastern Conference now will be having a lot of good teams.
I think his value now is at its highest and next summer won't be the same since the teams will know that Milwaukee will be with their backs against the wall. We'll see how this will shape.

The Bucks may never get another Giannis for the rest of their days. With that being said, it’s worth doing whatever it takes to retool around him. If Giannis is happy with that then it’s really weird for people to speak on his behalf because of ring culture

It’s going to be interesting (assuming Giannis stays) because his playbook has been “get down to the wire on an extension to put pressure on the Bucks to improve the team” (the Jrue and Dame trades). Unfortunately the Bucks don’t have the assets to really do so this time. I don’t believe the Bucks can get a Jrue type player with the lack of assets they have so do they cash in whatever they have left on lesser players to try and appease Giannis or will they be forced to trade him next summer when it’s clear they can’t make a move for another all-star level player? Maybe the Bucks can buy some time on a promise of improving the team but I just don’t see how they can realistically pull it off over the next couple of years. Their asset cache is pretty barren.

It's simple. People feel it's criminal for an all time great player to fight for a play in spot and a 1st round exit.
Giannis should have been a top10 player all time already. The last 3 years have robbed him of that.

He already has won a ring, which many players in the 11-20 range of all time greats don't.
Aside from the Spurs and or possibly Houston, there is no team that can offer a package that could satisfy The Bucks into trading Giannis that could realistically win a chip with Giannis in the time left in his prime.
I don't think winning another chip puts Ginnais into the top 10 of all time discussion at any rate
This whole debate of adding rings to a player's legacy and they should go ring chase is pretty tiresome.
Durant did his legacy no favours by ring chasing at the stacked Dubs (fwiw))

if they had a competent GM there is a path to them competing in 2025 in a weakened Eastern Conference. Sadly, they don't

If Giannis stays, I'm happy for him if it's what's in his heart and happy for Bucks fans. Good to hear a star wanting to create a legacy in a smaller market.

Took a fluke Haliburton buzzer beater for Indy to sink the Bucks in the first round.
Milwaukee also pushed the Pacers far harder than any other team in the East playoffs (which is pretty damning on Cleveland tbh)
Dame's unlucky blood clot issue aside, the Bucks can still make noise in the East next season.
At any rate we don't know what Giannis wants or what he is thinking, he seems perfectly happy at Cream City and that's fine by me..
This whole top ten player legacy thing is a pile of nonsense, of all current players only LeBron is a lock to be there (Joker would be next in line, Curry is the GOAT shooter of all time and has won 4 rings but I don't think anyone has him in their all time top 10 players of all time)
Still irks me big time Tom Brady didn't retire as a Pats as a NE fan though glad for his legacy he won another superbowl with the Bucs
It doesn't sit right with me that franchise GOAT and legacy players finish their careers outside of the team that drafted and or developed them
Hakeem at The Raptors is something that still annoys me to this day.

Wait so does this mean we’re not getting the second best player in the world for RJ Barrett?
