Negotiating with Ainge is like negotiating with a terrorist so he probably doesn't get moved unless a team really gets desperate. He's going to want something similar to a Gobert/Mitchell package and he's not worth that.

If the main piece going out is #9 + filler is that the "Big fish" we grab?

I like Markkanan and if the cost is 9 + RJ or something like that, I would do that. But I doubt Ainge would.

It would take Ainge and Masai a year to come to terms on a trade of this magnitude.

I don't blame him one bit. Last year (2023-2024), they were .500 team at the trade deadline and were sitting in a playoff spot.

Then Ainge pulled the plug and sold off Olynyk/Ochai to us for a 29th pick. Then tanked their way to keep their pick, only to select one of the worst players ever to come out of a draft in Cody Williams.

Who has the cap space to take him on? BRK?

BOS has pick #28 but I doubt BRK wants another late 1st in this draft.

I just wonder who's actually wiling to help out the Celtics from getting out of the second apron even if a pick was included; I know generally GM's try to maintain some sort of relationship to try to help one another but the Celtics don't really have a lot of leverage in this scenario if they want to get out from under the 2nd apron

Don't think BOS can slash all of it since everyone's at Brooklyn's mercy for cap space. Their next best hope is to slash a good chunk of his salary, or even hoodwink the Hawks, Bulls, or Kings to use their juicy TPE to help in these trades.

Them winning a title overshadowed the fact that this guy still cannot stay n the court. Missed 64 games in his 2 seasons with the Cs, and that is excluding the playoffs, where he missed games in both years there also.

Porzingas may fit in for us but I haven't been able to construct a deal that works with the Celtics that allows us to get him with their picks.

I doubt Cs find a taker for Porzingis. They probably just trade Jrue because they can get actual value for him as opposed to attaching assets to Porzingis.

I doubt they can get any value out of Jrue himself. Three more years at his contract and age while coming off his worst season since his rookie year. Any team that trades for him has to be concerned theyre getting a lemon

I can see a contender or a team that wants to jump into the playoffs falling in love with his defensive versatility and leadership. Teams won't give up a lot for him, but he'd be a lot more attractive to more teams than Porzingis.

That's three years though. He may have already fallen off and you'd be stuck with him taking 1/5th of your cap providing bench player production for a long time. 35 year old guards coming off of their worst seasons dont usually turn it around. Its more likely they have successively worse seasons

Jrue is a cap killer for whatever team that trades for him. Only way i trade for him is if im moving bad money myself, like Dallas, i'd move Klay/Caleb/Hardy for him and still ask for that early 2nd

Porz should be relatively easy to trade. No incentive needed. For a slight salary saving and lesser talent.
Jrue will be the harder trade to do. Forget cost savings, hard to see a basketball trade for him that makes sense.

Thats why most fans, shouldnt be GMs. Just few months back, people were still complaining why masai hasnt gotten him. Well his injury history and lack of defense might be the reason.

Porzingis has played more games than BI over the last 5 seasons (so has AD, OG and most other guys that we constantly make fun of for being injured). I personally love the BI trade but lets not go praising Masai for something (avoiding injury-prone players) that just isn't true.

I don't think there's a team that wants to give up capspace for Porzingis' expiring just for #28 or a future Celtics pick.

I would take on Porzingis if the Celtics give up their 2026 1st. I expect them to take a big step back next year with no Tatum and probably no Holiday.
