Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 8
I think you have to take Kon in that scenario. He's a lethal shooter and high IQ.
Fits with Barnes - Check
Fits with Darko offense - Check
Before all this started, they wanted someone to compliment Barnes as they are doubling down on him as their star, then Kon is a great fit. The defense isn't nearly as bad as what people think.
We can make moves after to find a big

76ers at 3 will be a big question mark...Do they trade back? Do they just take Ace, Do they reach for Mal...Who knows...
But at 9 we either get Kon or Queen i think most likely scenario....If we get Kon...Barrett or Dick might be traded for a big...
Kon at 9 is a no brainer, imo. A real talent, productive, and, unlike Gradey, a true elite shooter (91% from FT line along with 40% from long range). If he drops because guys in front of us shot for high reward/high risk type guys, that's good news for us.
Agreed. I rhink Kon has the shooting and connective type game that will improve almost any team.

* Props to the man, the myth, the legend......TZ.

I see no way Queen goes that high. Kon is possible, but if Noa really rises, he or KM are most likely to fall.
Agreed, these are my fallers and have been for a while. That's why I'm hoping someone falls in love with them and one of the "good" prospects drop. I say this while understanding both were good at the college level. If we had to choose between the two, I'd take Kon. I think with Queen it'll mess up our defense in a big way. If he doesn't "hit", it'll be kinda rough IMO.

I think if Noa is the one to go top 8 now with Nets in mind....If it really is Fears or Noa at 8 for them....That would mean Fears would have to fall to 8...Which i don't see it....Thats why Nets are trying hard to trade up because i think they know Fears will be gone by 8....I think theres a good chance Fears goes 6, Mal goes 7.....76ers will be the team to watch....If they go Mal at 3 or make a trade the board could go a different way...
I feel Kon/Queen will be the 2 falling to us....If its Kon id be fine with that ....

CMB is not the same size like CMB is 6'6" without shoes....6'7" With shoes....Queen is 6'10" in shoes....Thats a huge difference....Again just because Queen is not a rim protecting shot blocker does not mean he can't defend at all...Its a made up narrative....He is not useless on D...
Combine
Queen: 6'9.25 w/o shoes, 7'0.50 wingspan, 247.8 lbs
CMB: 6'6.5 w/o shoes, 7'0.75 wingspan, 239.2 lbs
What CMB lacks in height, he makes up with wingspan.
I didn't say Queen is useless. I said he won't be good enough to play as your lone big, if you want your defense to be good.
Height and Wingspan are 2 different things....For example Queen can actually body up against the 7 footers and not give up total position down there....CMB a 7 footer would tower over him...
CMB would be a sole SF/PF in the NBA....Queen will be a PF/C depending on matchups.
Asa Newell and Johni Broome towered over CMB in the post, neither could score on him though while he destroyed both of them in the post.
Ya if Jokic gets deep post position he's scoring on CMB along with everyone else in the NBA, difference is CMB is fast and strong enough to prevent most bigs from getting deep post position.

College bigs vs NBA vet bigs are 2 different players...CMB is not big enough to be a C in the NBA ....Hes wing sized...Hes smaller than alot of SFs in the NBA let alone Cs...I don't hate CMB but if you draft him he either needs to learn to play more like a wing or hes a full time PF.

CMB will be able to play some smallball C and he'll be able to guard most Fs and some guards on switches. Measurement wise, he's nearly identical to Draymond and he will probably be used very similarly to him.

Hah, I kind of compared him to Desmond Bane a bit so real nice to see it there. Wouldn’t mind him at all if KM is off the board. Definitely need a beast of a movement shooter and he’s got an ever developing on ball game as well. Someone that can bend defenses. Though he won’t do it explosively, we see it doesn’t have to be with guys like Klay/Curry/Trae/Bane/Luka etc.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Kyle Lowry was 6'0 and could protect the rim pretty well. There's more to rim protection than size.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 8
For CMB you would need a new makeup of a team for him to fit....He would ideally play sim to Scottie Barnes....As long as Barnes is on the team CMB won't fit with us...He is not a C....Sure he can play spot mins there depending on matchups...But if you try and make CMB a C he is going to fail in the NBA....
With CMB you need a strecth Big like Turner to play with him and a bunch of shooters around him....Draymond would not be Draymond if he didn't have Curry/Klay....How usefull would a Draymond type be with a Barnes/Yak FC?....Prolly not the best fit....If we trade Barnes + RJ + W/e for Trae Young and Tyler Herro ...Now you can convince me CMB would be a good pick at 9.
Trae Young/Herro/Ingram/CMB/Turner....<Now thats a legit team
IQ/Barnes/Ingram/CMB/Yak?.....<No spacing, No 3 pt shooting bad fit....

I just can't seem to get excited by this guy. He seems like he'd be a great addition to an existing playoff team. But I don't see his defence keeping him on the court to be a piece for a younger, developing team. Seems like a specialist in the making.
I am also getting tired of the "best pure shooter in the draft" moniker. There is rarely a consensus about a label like that. And even when there is, it doesn't usually directly translate without more. Dick and Hawkins were both the "best pure shooters". Year 3 coming up for both. They are not exactly knocking down with regularity in the pros.

Draymond without Steph and Klay is an NBA footnote.

He wouldn't get nearly the amount of attention without them, but the dude is a beast defensively. One of the best all-around defenders.
