Kidd has a lot of baggage. I don’t get the intrigue other than he is a CAA client I suppose and probably Dolan like him. While I am happy Thibs is gone, I can’t shake the feeling this is all coming from Dolan.

Two WCF appearances and 1 Finals appearance in 4 years with Dallas and a roster that has almost always had two defensive liabilities in the starting five. Sound familiar?

He also knows the NY market well and has coached Jalen before. Two things I think people are not putting enough weight into when considering his candidacy.

He’s a snake though man. If another better opportunity arises whos to say he won’t just up and leave us also? He has a track record of doing that.

Including with us during his final season playing when he jumped to the Nets coaching job. I'm surprised Dolan's letting that slide but he was a candidate for us before too.

I've warmed up to the idea of Kidd.

He checks a lot of boxes and probably the top 3 boxes which are

a) he's had success as a coach and took a team to the Finals
b) he's played and coached here in NYC so he understands the media and culture and would be able to handle the pressure and expectations
c) he's coached Brunson and has a great rapport with him

No other candidate can check all these boxes. And unfair or not, if Leon doesn't get Kidd it will look a little embarrassing at this point.

I personally loved it when Kidd was out of timeouts so he told one of his players to bump into him so his drink would spill, and the refs would have to stop the game. I mean he got caught and it's unethical, but you have to give the guy credit for thinking outside the box.

It's already been reported that Dolan signed off on what Leon and his team wanted to do with Thibs. He simply sat in on the player exit meetings to hear people out. Dolan's let Leon do his thing. The Dolan conspiracies need to stop unless you have some real evidence other than Chris Russo screaming about it with his high-pitched voice making peoples ears bleed.

Just something to consider:

If we haven't formally requested Kidd and thus may be negotiating on him, the same can be true about Udoka or Finch or whoever.

The reporting around this must be read very carefully, because doors that are reported to be anticipated to be closed are not the same as them actually being closed.

It is interesting that Bryant's name never seems to be coming up though.

If Bryant was the guy he would have been hired already. He might be a fall back option but he’s not the plan A or B

I think that everyone is holding off right now because Silver doesn't want anything to overshadow the small market finals. He was probably not happy that Tom got fired like two days before Game 1

I wouldn't trust Kidd under any circumstances.

When he's in, he's in and gives you good work. But when things don't go to his liking, or something shiny catches his eye, he's looking for the first exit on the right.

They need more to talk about beyond the game. I guarantee you if something major happens with the Knicks, the Finals would see a big boost in the ratings.
