Led his country to a European Championship at age 16, that's unheard of.

Yeah, with Yamal, you don't have to be Football expert to see IT, it is obvious. Guy is so talented its insane. Spain and Barca had couple of these super talents, and they all faded away due to injuries, to a point we started having discussions was it smart to put 16 year olds throught that pro men routine, but with Yamal, he is having no problem and it is crazy how good he looks. I never watch Spanish league, I never really watched Messi, but from what I have seen In Champions league this year, Yamal is insane.
Granted, I am below casual Football fan, so most things will go over my head, and Bellingham I believe is CM, and the type of player he his, some of his brilliance will not pop as much as with Yamal, where he just dribble past multiple men, making shots from ridiculous angles. So I am not sure who is better, but Yamal has the bag to be all time great offensive player in Football. He is definitely the young kid to watch at this moment.

Gonna pile on. There’s a new young phenom sheriff in town in the footballing world and it’s not just a prisoner of the moment thing. Lamal is that young guy.

As UcanUwill said above, he has it.

One of those rare athletes you watch play their sport and without needing to be a major fan, you can see they are special.

We’ll see how he deals with the pressure of the World Cup next summer, but he has already come up big in the Euro Final which is the closest thing. Cross our fingers he stays healthy.

That’s a wild statement re Messi’s. He’s wasn’t that much further ahead comparatively to pretend nobody alive today could overtake.

I’d take the entire world population born from now until 2045 vs Messi. It’s definitely a safer bet than betting on Wemby to be the GOAT.

I’d take Messi. He has the eye test, trophies and stats over a 15 year period that are almost impossible to replicate.

Wemby needs to catch up man. Alcaraz has achieved way, way more at a similar age.

Alcaraz will likely end up with the best career out of the three, but Wemby is the most exciting and has the highest ceiling

Alcaraz has a truly elite rival in Sinner who will keep him from dominating tennis. 20 Slams is probably not going to happen for him. Wemby having a better career is actually pretty likely if he’s as good as we think he is.

Oh that's why, it's soccer so i guess will never know him again. i think that Conor McDavid guy belongs in this list but obviously not sure if he's an all-timer potential like Wemby and Alcaraz.

McDavid will surpass all of these guys. He's tracking to be a top 5 all time player if not higher. Wemby and Alcaraz have that potential but McDavid has already accomplished far more and he still has plenty of prime years left and I say this as a huge Alcaraz fan, Alcaraz obviously has the talent to be an all timer but his career is still young, lots of accomplishments but still in the infancy stage of his career which is crazy considering how much he's accomplished already. Wemby has a lot to prove to be placed in the category of these guys. In terms of excitement and maybe it's bias, but I take Alcaraz of all these guys. He's pure showtime on the court, box office to the max.

Bellingham is absolutely not on any kind of all time great trajectory. Very good player but that's it
Yamal is a phenom though

Had to google. Which points out McDavid's problem ... hockey always was the 4th team sport in the US, and it's falling even further behind these days. No current hockey player has remotely the US recognition level of Caitlin Clark, and I doubt will change.

I mean, isn’t that expected in an individual sport?

By definition, a basketball phenom is likely winding up on one of the worst teams in the league.

A tennis player has zero worries like that. Nor does a footballer who is signed or acquired early by some uber-rich squad that just out-pays everyone else.

The whole thread is apples and oranges, but even so, decent fodder for message board banter during a quieter time.

Bellingham had a good 4 months with Real and he's the next Zizou.

Change him for either Pedri or Lamine because they clear him easily.

Messi has like 45 trophies and 9 balon d'ors on top of a gazillion other accolades.

The talent level we're seeing now doesn't show a future remotely close where Messi will be eclipsed. Messi like Maradona and R9 is an anomaly.

What do you want from him? He should have been All-Star, All-NBA and DPOY in season 1 but the media didn't want to award it to him. He won a silver medal for his country in the Olympics. He would have been DPOY and All-NBA again this season if not for the 65 game rule which is newly instituted. He had an unfortunate health issue that robbed him of the second half of his sophomore season. Not to mention we're talking about a singles tennis player who has been pro since age 15 versus a team basketball player who is barely in his second season in the NBA. Cut the kid some slack
