I keep asking myself the question...why would it take the Mavs over a week to say "no".

HOU said no real quick.

Compare this weird coaching search with the one we did back in 2020. Leon did not move in silence like people are saying now, they had interviews that we all knew about.

https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2020/06/2020-nba-head-coaching-search-tracker.html

New coach:
Tom Thibodeau

Also interviewed:
Mike Miller
Former Nets coach Kenny Atkinson
Former Knicks coach Mike Woodson
Sixers assistant Ime Udoka
Magic assistant Pat Delany
Bulls assistant Chris Fleming
Spurs assistant Will Hardy
Mavericks assistant Jamahl Mosley
Warriors associate head coach Mike Brown
Lakers assistant Jason Kidd

Thibodeau was long cited as the presumed frontrunner in the Knicks’ head coaching search, but the team conducted a wide-ranging search rather than simply handing him the job. Atkinson generated some buzz during the process, with Miller and Kidd receiving serious consideration as well. In the end, however, the Knicks went with Thibodeau, agreeing to a five-year contract to make him their new head coach.

Not buying any of this. The play all along was Johnny Bryant. Leon couldn't be this inept.

The Knicks are doing this coaching search very differently from when we went to hire Thibs. Everyone around the league feels like the Knicks have no plan besides trying to get coaches who are under contract with other teams.. which is very unrealistic to make happen.

He lost me when he made a video about why the Knicks won't come back from a 3-1 deficit vs the Pacers. I mean, yeah they probably won't but just be neutral and report tidibits, man.

katz did opinion stuff all the time. it was just well received and generally trusted. edwards is a new face and clearly not a knick fan. if anything, he's more neutral.

and i strongly prefer reading katz to edwards.

When he was announced as the new guy, he was soooo thrilled with it (not). I thought that was just his dry as sand personality, but the more I read his stuff, the more obnoxious it sounded. He's a Michigan boy, so his you can reason that his dream job was writing about the Pistons. But he has such a **** attitude towards the Knicks, it's damn near a disservice. I don't expect sunshine and blue skies, but he just seems to stir ish up.

He's coached his team to an NBA Finals. What has Bryant done to warrant this much attention?

Yea I wouldn’t necessarily say he “coached” them to it. Whole lot had to happen to get there that was out of his hands and they proved that they didn’t belong there in there in the end

His bucks were 42-40 in giannis breakout season as MIP. And then they were 23-22 before he got canned and they finished 21-16 with no name Joe Prunty taking over.

Then he goes to Dallas with generational talent Luka primed and ready. Kyrie shortly after. He coaches 4 seasons and produces two 50 win seasons and 2 sub 40 win seasons.

People acting like Kidd coached them to a finals are crazy. I think he’s shown enough to prove he’s a mid coach at best.

I’d rather take someone unproven and hungry than someone proven to be mid.

It's not unrealistic if the coach you are trying to pursue also wants to leave for your team.

It wouldn't even be the first time its happened with Kidd.

It would look pretty shady if the Knicks fired Thibs and then hired Jason Kidd a few days later. That would mean this was planned and if it was planned, then it would look like something unscrupulous took place. I forgot who said it, but someone said that throwing in guys like Idoke and Finch into the report was to get the scent off the guy they already plan to hire from another team.

Can we at least get some type of video breakdown or insight into why Kidd would be a good fit? People who have followed his coaching career?

We have some decent insight into Bryant and it seems like it’s more along the lines of what would benefit the team. What does Kidd bring besides his name?

No we don't. Everything around Bryant is speculation and inference.

But here is a Kidd video

Opinons about other posters are not needed.

Opinions about basketball are welcome.
