Made what up. 'Reports' without sources that don't result in articles aren't really a valid storyline. Nobody's going on the record, the storyline is standard and not out of the ordinary in any way. When they can't come up with a real story then, they don't really have one now. Note well there's never a retraction or course correction when these media outlets aren't proven accurate on these unsourced stories after the fact. That's why they're not really "articles." Rasheed out, Dillon in, Doubs unhappy, TRADING FOR Adams or Metcalf when the Packers never made a call--STILL a lotta openly non-factual claims circulating among veteran Packer writers, still being repeated long after proven false. Thing is: both franchises and any players involved aren't talking while conducting their business, and that means there isn't a story until real sources prove there is.

I mean Packer beat writers early this off-season all said it was very likely the Packers would release Jaire if they couldn't find a trade and that turned out to be spot on. They got a lot of flak and ended up being right.
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Did Melton even play DB in high school? Let's just say I'm pretty dubious this is any sort of solution to the CB depth.

^^^ Between Ja's contract and injury history, I thought a trade was wishful thinking, unless the Pack tossed in considerable sweeteners.

I will be very interested to see how many snaps he plays this season. Maybe he's completely mended up, but I have my doubts (as if I know anything at about sports medicine.).

Where is he most likely to go? The Vikes always chase ex-Packers, but I'll guess Rams, Miami, or SF

49ers 40mil to spend, need a CB.

But I would guess he either stays within the division or goes to Pitts.

Detroit
Minnesota
Chicago
Pitts
SF
Dallas

in that order depending on who offers him the most.

Fans routinely underestimate the CB room the last few years. Packers though know who Valentine and Ballentine are/were and what they can/could do. They got Hobbs b/c they knew they had one solid CB spot to fill.

I do wish Jaire were still on the team, but the CBs were not a dire problem last season down the stretch when Jaire was not playing. The CBs in the Eagles' game were good enough to win--it was our WR depth without Watson (and in-game injuries to boot) and our OL (esp Tom and the lack of a backup G) that killed us. If somehow late last season we could have traded Stokes for Hobbs, I would say CB would have been a solid position for us actually, even without an all-pro type guy.

Depth is big though. Would be great to see a couple of those first- and second-year CBs (or Melton!) ball out.

I get why they released him.

I wish they could have worked something out but...

He has been injury prone. With his last injury (PCL tear), That actually makes him even more susceptible to other knee injuries(from the google), so I could see them thinking it was time to cut bait with the contract, If they thought he was going to lose a step and/or be at an increased chance of injury.

Seems like a good dude. Maybe immature at times, but looks like he had the respect of some of the folks in the locker room. Appreciate the player he was for us. Hopefully, he has a lengthy career balling out against everyone, but the Pack.

The Packers are signing DT Cameron Young, per the league transaction wire. He's a former 2023 fourth-round pick of the Seahawks who was released in April with 17 career games under his belt.

I just don’t think the packers value corner that highly. Seems like the scheme doesn’t call for man coverage much

Clifford may bounce around practice squad's for awhile but I've heard he would make a good coach, maybe he goes into that.

Whats the deal with Hardman? Dont know anything about him but he was a pro bowler as a rookie (special teams only?)? He was a borderline starter for a good chiefs team. Did he get injured? Just a product of Mahomes? Nixon return replacement?

Throughout his career, Isaiah Simmons has been described as a hybrid -- a player who can line up at multiple positions. It's part of the reason he was the eighth overall pick of the 2020 draft by the Arizona Cardinals. The problem has been that he has never quite been able to excel at any of them.

It's part of the reason he was available to the Packers for the veteran minimum salary and a small signing bonus ($167,500) this offseason after two years with the New York Giants. And part of the reason Simmons signed with the Packers was their willingness to let him play exclusively at linebacker. With the Cardinals and Giants, he was shuffled among linebacker, safety and nickel defensive back. He played only 181 defensive snaps last season for New York.

"My versatility, I feel like it's a little bit of a gift and a curse, where they want you to do everything," Simmons said. "But at the end of the day, I'm still a human."

Even though the Packers are deep at linebacker, Simmons has had the chance to line up with the starters during the offseason program, which concluded with Thursday's final minicamp practice. One of the starting linebackers, Quay Walker, has not practiced at all during the offseason, giving Simmons more of an opportunity.

"Honestly I feel like this is the most comfortable in a system I've been since I've been in the league," Simmons said.

Seems like he may be a little James Jones-ish. Not the most gifted, but reliable. It says something that KC decided to bring him back after he was with the Jets. He was also the player who caught the game winner in the OT Super Bowl vs. San Fran. If he didn't come through there were only 3 seconds left, and KC would've only had 1 more play to win.

Hardman ran a 4.33 at the combine and has been mostly used as a gadget player. Not really seeing any James Jones comparisons there. I certainly don't see him as a roster lock considering they just spent a 3rd round pick on a guy (Savion Williams) that profiles in the same role, not to mention if they still also envision Melton getting snaps on offense. He'll need to lock down the returner duties most likely, cuz I don't see much of a role for him on offense.
