I go to different teams' forums and see what trades their constituents have theorized and work from that canvas. Unfortunately, our board (Pacers) is a ghost town. Some teams, like the Knicks and Timberwolves, are heavily active.

Maybe if MIN is going to lose Randle or Naz Reid, they could send one to a third team and add a player that fits NOP better. MIN GETS: McCollum + asset MIN GIVES: Randle or Naz (S&T)
NOP GETS: Third team, better fit player NOP GIVES: McCollum
THIRD TEAM GETS: Randle or Naz (S&T) THIRD TEAM GIVES: Better fit player + asset
Minnesota swaps Randle for a stop-gap back-court mate and another mid-1st, given them the ability to move up in the draft to acquire a long-term fit of they see fit. New Orleans trades McCollum for a good long-term fit next to Trey Murphy at the 2-guard position. They draft Fears at #7 creating a dynamic PG/SG/SF position. Spurs go into next year with massive upgrades at Point Guard (Fox) and Power Forward (Randle) as their window is open with their young superstar.

Vassell wasn't good though.. they're better off letting CJ expire than take on Vassell's deal imo
I don't have Vassel as a good long term fit... It's hard to gauge any trade for NOP because no one knows what their plans are, to me, looks like they'll shut it down again around January, which makes this deal obsolete for them.
At least it's not another center... But if we're being real, the Spurs wouldn't consider this. RGM has the idea that Vassell is a negative, so even though Randle is meh, the Spurs get to get off that deal. But from what we can see, the Spurs have no interest in doing that. They aren't giving up a lotto pick to turn him into a guy who doesn't fit well with a lineup that already has three on-ball players already. Add in that they don't even need to trade Vassell to make this work, and it doesn't make sense. The Spurs would be better off using 14 and the MLE to bolster their front court.

Lol! We're pretty happy! And tend to go to the games or watch while not on the forums. Definitely more of a "less is more" type forum of quality of quantity. Looks like, outside of your first ~3 weeks on RealGM, you've posted in the Pacers forum twice? Feel free to jump in! You'll probably get responses!

Don’t really know what it would be though.
Why? Randle is 10x the player Vassell is.
Minnesota has #31.
Don’t disagree.
But who are they bidding against for Randle to make them pay that?
Maybe I am off but a late lottery pick feels generous, even with questionable money going out.
Considering the limited cap availability, I could see multiple teams.
Phoenix San Antonio Memphis Atlanta Charlotte Miami Detroit Chicago
I could see all these teams engaging with Minnesota for Julius Randle. Randle is easily matchable salary wise, proven to be coachable on multiple stops (New Orleans, New York and Chicago), is expiring to help 2026 Cap Space.
How many players who were #2 options on a good playoff team would be available?
How many Top 30-50 players are available?
I'd like him in Indiana if we didn't have Siakam already.
I think there is one major problem from the Minnesota perspective, I don't think the Wolves are going to be interested in taking this big a step back. Randle for McCollum is a huge downgrade in terms of on court production and playoff upside. I expect Minnesota would just keep Randle and make another playoff run with the chance of extending Julius at some point if things are going well.

Yes, and certainly more teams would be interested in Randle than McCollum.

Really sort of agree with you. Not a huge fan of Randle and don’t think you want him as your second option on a good playoff team? Unless you’re just a great team all around that..

I highly suspect whichever forum you got that from wasn't a Spurs one.
Obviously but this deal is great for San Antonio. They get a great fit next to Wemby, a player in his prime and on a market-rate (or below) contract and a player from Texas.

Spurs go into next year with massive upgrades at Point Guard (Fox) and Power Forward (Randle) as their window is open with their young superstar.
A few things: 1) Wolves need to re-sign Reid, assuming Randle is opted in to his contract, dealing him for "stop-gap" probably isn't wise. Randle was the "prize" for Towns. Trading down from Randle to CJ would be an embarrassment. If Wolves can get KD, Randle would probably be the main piece in that deal and if they can't expiring Randle would be a deadline piece they could be using to bring back the disgruntled superstar at this years deadline.
2) Pels would do well obviously to get a long-term role player (albeit on a questionable contract) for CJ. Fears is really good, but since he is not technically part of the trade, I can't grade this on his acquisition. Instead I see a Pels team that is stacked at the wing (2-3) and basically knee-capped at the 1 and 5.
3) Spurs are doing everything to protect Wemby which means you may not want him playing C full time. Probably want to do what the Thunder have done and put a C next to him to do all the dirty work. Randle is a true 4. Just seems like a bad fit.
on the flip-side, if you spun this trade the other direction Wolves trade Gobert, Pels get Gobert and send something like Hawkins, CJ (for cap reasons), cap filler to the Spurs. Spurs then send Vassell and whatever is the least amount of $ they can send to the Wolves to complete the trade. Basially if Gobert is making 50M that means that NOP could send out 40M to the Spurs who then can send 32M to the Wolves. This generates a TPE they can use, or gives them salary cushion to comfortably make other moves (resign NAW and Naz first, then re-stock depth)
I can also see a world where Garland/Allen is dealt for Randle/Donte (or similar) Edit: I thought Gobert was still on a mega-contract. I still support the idea of Gobert to NOP, but the overall concept is shot so I am leaving up my thoughts just to further embarrass myself.
