With all due respect, I don't think you, or I, can speak with 100% conviction that Ace, VJ, Tre, Kon will be better than Queen just because a bunch of mock drafts tell you so.
Queen might be better still might not be good enough. He's not some towering center. He's 6'10.

Again if we draft a center the writing is on the wall and Jo will be traded on draft day or by the deadline. As much as I think he's likely done, that will be a sad ending to this chapter, and I hope it doesn't happen.

This implies that Ace, Tre, VJ, Kon are "good enough" and I just don't see it; or at least I don't see the major gap between those guys and Queen.

We've had a player very similar to Queen on this team before.

It was awful.

Never again.

Kon sucking at mid rangers and admitting it isn't great, either. Everyone will close out on him super hard and chase him off the line. Will require lots of screens and shooting off movement to compensate.

The Sixers are excellent at setting screens, amirite?

Hoop-Explorer lets you funnel on/off for "stretch" final 8 mins. Best I could find. Ignore the on/off and you can compare shooting stats. I won't ruin the Ace numbers for you

Maybe I pressed the wrong filter but his numbers don't really look that good?

Kon will be a role player like his fellow Dukie Luke Kennard.

Very similar prospects in terms of numbers and physical profile.

Wayman Tisdale in college was a chiseled super athlete compared to Derik Queen!

Okafor and Queen really don't play anything alike, so I don't really understand the comparison.

Hope these links work:

Ace - Final 8 minutes as a Filter - the A lineup is the final 8; the B lineup is Ace baseline including final 8

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=false&baseQuery=&gender=Men&maxRank=400&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Rutgers&year=2024%2F25&

Ace - Final 8 excluding garbage - B lineup is Ace before final 8 excluding garbage

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=true&baseQuery=&filterGarbage=true&gender=Men&maxRank=400&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Rutgers&year=2024%2F25&

Ace - Final 8 excluding garbage against Top 50

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=true&baseQuery=&filterGarbage=true&gender=Men&maxRank=50&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Rutgers&year=2024%2F25&

Things of interest - in the final 8 minutes Ace's rebound rate increased, turnover rate decreased, free throw rate increased and shooting percentages increased, especially from 3.

The rebounds, assists and free throw all held true when you adjusted for Top 50 talent; however, his midrange dropped significantly while his 3pt shooting remained in the near-elite range.

Kon - Final 8

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=true&baseQuery=&gender=Men&maxRank=400&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Duke&year=2024%2F25&

Kon - Final 8 Top 50

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=false&baseQuery=&filterGarbage=true&gender=Men&maxRank=50&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Duke&year=2024%2F25&

It was good to see Kon's assists jump while turnovers dipped. However, as the games came down to the wire and defenses lock in and windows tightened and defenders begin to crowd, Kon's shooting cratered down to a CMB level 27% from 3.

Tre - Final 8

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=false&baseQuery=&gender=Men&maxRank=400&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Texas&year=2024%2F25&

Tre - Final 8 Top 50

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=false&baseQuery=&filterGarbage=true&gender=Men&maxRank=50&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Texas&year=2024%2F25&

Nice jump in free throw rate; but rebounding dropped, assists dropped, turnovers went up. His 3-ball went down and his already bad inside he arc %'s dropped even more.

VJ - Final 8

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=false&baseQuery=&gender=Men&maxRank=400&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Baylor&year=2024%2F25&

VJ - Final 8 Top 50

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=false&baseQuery=&filterGarbage=true&gender=Men&maxRank=50&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Baylor&year=2024%2F25&

VJ did a really nice job locking in cutting his turnover rate down a lot; while maintaining his assists ratio. It was nice to see his 3 pt% increased in both overall down the stretch games and those with Top 50 teams. Unfortunately, anything inside the arc was a mess.

Kasparas Final 8

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=false&baseQuery=&gender=Men&maxRank=400&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Illinois&year=2024%2F25&

Kasparas Final 8 Top 50

https://hoop-explorer.com/OnOffAnalyzer?autoOffQuery=false&baseQuery=&filterGarbage=true&gender=Men&maxRank=50&minRank=0&offQuery=&onQuery=&onQueryFilters=Stretch&team=Illinois&year=2024%2F25&

Tipping my cap to 76'er and others who are on Kasparas. His 3 ball doesn't improve at all and is still a concern; but man does did he dial it up inside the arc and at the rim in the final 8 minutes of games generally and even against Top 50. His turnover rate is still bad, but he at least he became a bit more careful with the ball.

Who are some players tall for their position andbat least moderately athletic that suck at defense?

Tre sucks on D, but I feel like there's a good chance he ends up fine on D. Any D comps (negative) in the NBA?

If Queen is PF, then he’s pretty decently sized with a very good standing reach for PF.

I'm thinking the pick will either be Ace or Tre. As much as I like VJ, the height is an issue, and having to learn to be a better shooter, with a more diverse bag will be annoying. Tre could be a 20 ppg scorer right from the get go, not that he would need to on this team, but the scoring is elite. In my mind atleast offensively, he's a 25 ppg scorer in the making, so offensively elite. I really care about D, but also look at teams like Indiana, who's star guard is horrible on defense. Maxey improved a ton, and if we can figure out the front court in a few years, I'd prefer to have elite guards. Still like Ace but would be happy with Tre.

Teams which are good that have **** defense from their guards:

Pacers
Knicks
Clippers
Lakers
Denver
Warriors

Lot of these teams were on the cusp of being better in the playoffs, and clearly OKC has good defense from the guard position, which could show that that is the position to be good at, but we have so many wholes I'd prefer a sure thing offensively. Tre is the surest thing as a scorer in the draft. No questions. With Ace, you have theoretical offense with good D. With VJ athletic defense with passable offense. Kon is just a shooter, and personally admitted to not wanting to score inside or in the midrange.

Do you think Queen will be a better scorer than Tre? Fears? Ace?

If so great, still doesn't make up for being unathletic and not a good defender.
