This is sourced? That's what he's saying?

Here’s the link. I’ll let you decide if he’s just speculating or what he’s saying sourced. I am kind of confused by the way he says it honestly. The Jaylen Brown piece starts at the 1min mark.

Yeah, it's tough to know for sure, but feels like his opinion on what Spurs should consider? And KOC doesn't seem to shoot it down. But Mannix doesn't ever really seem to imply it's sourced.

Idk man, it kinda feels like the KP thing has ran it's course

The talent hasn't changed, but if we think of Brogdon and Timelord leaving, we know that injury is THE big factor. It's easier to trade him. Can you imagine keeping him and for a third season he isn't able to play much in the playoffs?

Mannix is never sourced. His next time sourced will be his first time. Spurs deal for Brown could happen but it won't be because Mannix knew anything.

Only reason why i think it might be sourced is because in the full pod when they’re talking about spurs and giannis, he mentions “talking with people with the spurs” and saying they won’t want to put castle in giannis package because that’s going too much in one timeline and doesn’t want wemby to be left with no one once the giannis era is over

A bidding war for Jaylen would be fascinating. I continue to think he has really high value around the league.
My unpopular opinion is that genocide is bad and we should speak out against it.

So long as Brad at least listens to offers. Maybe Houston/Atlanta and SAS come up with some nice packages.

Mannix kept saying Nikola Vucevic was heading to Boston, I'm still waiting.

Rule of Thumb in trade season: If I don't like the rumor, it's definitely not true. If I like it, it's happening!!

Didn’t Dameapolozza have a period where he definitely didn’t want to go anywhere and wasn’t going to be traded? Trying to remember how that one went down.

Mannix isn't a rumor. Brown could be traded anywhere including the Spurs but I watched Mannix and he is guessing like he always does.

JB just had luck on his side.

Only made All-NBA team once and it happened at the right time.

JB is definitely a max player, but not a supermax.

Oh man, I'm getting excited about a possible JB for #2 pick + salary filler deal.

I've been very high on Harper this whole season. Especially when you look at the final 4 teams in the playoffs this season and how they were each led by a star guard (Hali, SGA, Brunson, Ant). Luka carried the Mavs to the finals last year. Harper could be that next superstar guard. He's a much better passer than JB..and Harper is only 19 yrs old.

But also:

-You get off JB's contract..he's not really worth that type of $ for the production and impact you're getting on the court..we can't really afford to have 2 guys on the same team on a supermax contract, especially under the new CBA

-There was the wrist..this year in the playoffs there was a knee injury. JB has had other injuries here and there..seems like every year just about there's a different injury that is popping up, bothering him, limiting him..and the injuries will take their toll even more as he gets older..and a guy like JB who relies a lot on athleticism/explosiveness, isn't a great shooter, sometimes has issues with his handle and off ball defense - his game might not age so well

-Our system relies a lot on 3 pt shooting. Last 3 years, JB's 3 pt shooting numbers: 33%, 35%, 32%. Leave average is 36%. That's not great. Harper isn't a great shooter either but he's a better shooter in college than JB was and Harper is only 19..9 yrs younger than JB so if I have to choose between 2 guys who aren't great shooters, I'll pick the guy who is 9 yrs younger to much earlier in his development so more likely to improve his shot over time. Not to mention the guy who's a much better passer and much cheaper contract

-We could ride JB/JT until the wheels fall off, until they're both too old for us to be contenders. And then after that we'd have to blow it up, tank and try hope we get lucky in the lottery to land a new star we can build around. Or we can trade for Harper right now and we've got that star..that way, we'd have 1 title window now with Tatum, Harper and White..you ride them for a few years..then when tatum and White are too old, you build around Harper..

Not getting my hopes up too much, though. I doubt the spurs make that trade. Boston might do it, but I also kind of doubt Brad does it..

I haven't seen this about Vucevic elsewhere, but the Celtics certainly need another center if KP is traded.

I heard Mannix talking about this I think on BST and my first thought was "Is Steph Castle really that much more valuable than Dylan Harper (or whoever at #2)?"

I honestly don't have super clear feelings on this and as a Big East guy I'm definitely pulling for him to be good. But Harper (my choice at #2) feels like he has a higher ceiling to me.

Brown and Devin Carter to the Spurs

Kristaps and Jrue to Sacramento

Demar Derozan and Jonas Valnciunas to Lakers

Maxi Klebr, Harrison Barnes, Jordan Walsh, Xavier TIllman and pick 32 to Brooklyn

#2, Keegan Murray, Devin Vassell, Dalton Knect, Nic Claxton, Jared Vanderbilt to Celtics
trades drop 41.9 million in payroll and leaves team 2 million below tax line

Harper/Pritchard
White/Scheierman
Vassell/Knect
Murray/Vanderbilt
Claxton/Kornet

Suck it, I broke the NBA

I think he's talking about a few years ago when Vucevic was traded to chicago..there were rumors back then that we were gonna use our Hayward TPE to trade for Vucevic but we got Fournier instead..

In my opinion, the Spurs are going to trade for Durant with the #14 pick and a pu pu platter. Draft Harper at #2 and have it both ways. Be a playoff factor now with Wemby, Fox, Durant, Castle, Harper. Move forward later with Castle, Harper, Wemby. Honestly wouldn't be shocked if they traded Fox.

Spurs have a great opportunity to have Wemby, Castle and #2 pick all on the same timeline. I'll be shocked if the Spurs trade the #2 to anyone. Wemby is 21 years old, there is no rush.

Return to Boston Celtics
