Could see that one coming, Bassitt entered his headcase mode there halfway through the inning

Oh no tie game need to pinch hit Guerrero so he can hit a ground ball single

Lauer, Turnbull, Luis Leal?

Don’t know but most importantly Francis is starting again on the weekend

They had a chance to skip his turn but passed. Smart stuff.

I'll call "overthink" mode rather than "headcase" to be kind. But I would argue that he entered overthink mode when he decided to drastically change his position on the rubber midseason before this game.

Great bounceback in the top of the 5th. Like the fight of this team.

Should they have challenged?
It was close enough and meant a run.

Not sure if they would have won, but it wasn't automatic either.

Good bounceback inning by Bassitt... needed that clean low pitch inning -- we will need our pen tomorrow.

I'll take back what I said about Bassitt earlier.

The part about his hips being a bit sore as a reason for the change is a tad concerning -- we can't afford an injury to Gausman, Berrios or Bassitt.

I find it odd that Roden didn't tag up on that fly to deep left center by Straw. Why are guys going 3/4's the way on balls that are close to the warning track? Obviously it's going to be caught and Roden likely isn't going to get thrown out at second and even if he does it's gonna take a great throw and be a close play. You're up 4, push it.

Is Kirk the best catcher in baseball? What a wild turn.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

It’s hard to argue Kirk over Cal Raleigh but he definitely is arguably second best

Always so reassuring to see Chad Green warming
