Best player for #7 and Alvarado

Post#1 » by hoopsfan777 » Mon Jun 9, 2025 9:50 pm

New Orleans wants to win now and would rather add a proven young veteran than a rookie to start off the Dumars era. What's the best #7 and Alvarado can get?

Don't think Alvarado's making much difference in the quality of the return, and with Murray out NO could use him this year.

New Orleans should be sellers not trading away picks.

We're building around Zion and Trey. Keeping Herb and probably Matkovic and Reeves.

What does that mean? What has that team accomplished for them to be trading away top ten picks. Once that team moved on from Ingram it was time to rebuild.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Dumars isn't rebuilding in year one. We're looking to get better right now which is where a young proven veteran comes in.

Lauri for 7, DeJounte, filler. Agree that Jose is such a small value add that he doesn't materially change the return for 7.

I’d guess Alvarado is worth a couple 2nds? No reason to include him here right?

What’s the salary matching?

Mostly neutral CJM?

Negative DJM?

Sort of makes sense to hold on to DJM and hope for a major comeback if the goal is to win now..

I know SAS would never do this but to go with the thread..

Fox for McCollum and 7? No idea if Fox still holds more value than a midlottery first and a fill-in vet.

If you think he does, we can add a protected future first, protection lasting a few years? Can include Hawkins or Kelly, if they hold any value to SAS..

So hang up that Murray or McCollum pick... Alvarado's salary is too low, or who were you thinking?
7+ PACERS 26+ Alvarado to HOUSTON for Sheppard + 10?

PJ Washington if the Mavs discover that Flagg can only play 4/3 and play defense better than PJ. The Mavs want backcourt help. Expand the deal to include Christie / Martin / Marshall / Klay, filler and pick. This is a move that the Mavs has been longing for.

Pacers give Mathurin and pick 23 for pick 7 and the return of the Pacers own 2026 FRP. Alvarado not needed.

What would it take for you to return the Pacers 2026 first?

Portland wouldn't because guard is their biggest need and they probably still like Scoot over any non-Harper guard in the draft... but this is a good idea. Reset the rookie contract clock, take a shot at somebody whose ceiling is still unknown (and thus higher than Henderson's).

I don't think New Orleans would do it either, regardless of the quality available in this draft, because they could get an offer with a better NBA player.
