I could see the argument Brook is a security blanket the team needs to move on from to avoid feeling so old and slow.

If that comes to pass, hopefully it wouldn't come back to bite us -- and that it wouldn't actually be mostly about cost savings to ownership.

Not like the Bucks are full of assets or even just tradeable salary slots. Getting something back in a sign and trade would be different too.

Changing coaches would be another option but that seems moot at this point. And if we end up keeping BroLo then it shouldn't be impossible for Doc to make his own adjustments to shake it up.

Stretch centers who can defend (if only situationally) don't grow on trees is the consideration wherever this lands.

The mood around these parts seems a lot better today. Wonder why.

Is MPJ a significantly better shooter than Collins?

Agreed. Rather have Collins than MPJ when it comes to distressed assets. Even if MPJ is the better fit on paper.

Problem is Collins would cost something.

I would love Brook at 2y/15-20mil contract for the backup C spot. He is a soldier and always available which matters in the regular season and makes life easier for Giannis through that period. Obviously minutes get lower - or even diminish according to matchups - in the playoffs.

Can everyone though be on that same page?

Brook should have been gone 3 years ago. Signing him again (unless its a S&T) is just taking minutes away from potential players that may actually be playable in the playoffs. Terrible dumb move if the FO brings him back and at that point I'll know where in for just more of the same old crap.

This. Not trading Brook at the deadline still remains last season’s biggest screw up imo. Sat on him past the deadline just to watch him suck in the playoffs like 95% of Bucks fans called happening. Brook is a part of Doc proofing the roster, he can’t be here any longer.

Brook for cheap is still a deal I make if he wants to return to finish his career in Milwaukee rather than one last pay day. You can’t Doc proof the roster, he will find a way, and Brook eats up a lot of regular season minutes. We’re not going to find a better floor stretching rim protector, we would be missing him a lot if say Tyler Smith was the back up. He is not stupid or selfish player like say Kuzma. We need as much bang for our buck as possible with our signings this year, this is really the only area Horst has been strong in. I think Doc was seeing the value having Sims out there was having so I am, perhaps foolishly, optimistic about the rotations

Playing through a not great shoulder injury would probably indicate he's the opposite.

Far from makes up for the last 5 years. And I meant that he plays soft anyway.

Brook is going to get a 2 year contract from someone who can offer him more than we'll want to give him here. He still put up good numbers for the most part and played 80 games last year, shot 37% from deep, and other than looking a bit slow, didn't show signs of aging too much. A good coach would utilize him so much better.

Who are these mythical players? How do we acquire them?

Curious when we will start see Dame hype videos. He's at 5.5 weeks and should be in a boot / starting to do PT. Rodgers was "practicing" at 11 weeks.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but projections:
Early December (6 Months) - I think Terrell Suggs was on the optimistic end of six months.
Early March (9 Months) - Realistic timeline, though likely out of shape/not the same player (Kobe was 8 months but a shell/Wilkins was 32 and 10 months being the gold standard for a return)
Early May (12 Months) - Probably fully recovered but not the same player. (Cousins was 1 year)

Not many current NBA examples of this injury, KD was 18 months but that was due to being injured in the finals/COVID. He probably could have played in the bubble but it was a weaker Nets team in a weird situation?

First apron for the 2025-26 season is $187.9 million. 2nd apron is projected at $207.8 million.

- Kuzma + Pat + 2031 2nd for Michael Porter Jr. (Cam Johnson to Denver and Kuzma + DEN 1st to BKN)
- Dean Wade + #49 into the Middleton TPE ($7.2 million)
- Trent re-signed with MLE (3-yrs $40 million)
- KPJ re-signed on the BAE (1-yr $5.1 million)
- Bobby opts out and extends at a lower first season cap number (4-yrs $50 million)

Giannis - $54.1 million
Dame - $54.1 million
MPJ - $38.3 million
Trent - $12 million
Bobby - $12 million
Wade - $6.6 million (only $4 mil guaranteed if waived before January)
KPJ - $5.1 million
AJ Green - $2.3 million
Tyler Smith - $1.9 million

$186.1 million total salary for 9 rostered players. I'm waiving Andre and Livingston in this situation. Package 47, 49, and cash to Charlotte for one of their two early 2nd's (33 or 34). 2-3 vet minimums and whoever you draft fills out the roster.

Dame/KPJ/???
Trent/AJ/Rollins
MPJ/???
Giannis/Wade/Smith/Thanasis
Bobby/Sims

As much as I like Gary Trent I think the play is to use the MLE on a small forward and fully lean in to AJ Green as the starting 2 guard. As we saw with Beasley 2 years ago and Trent this past year I think we can find another guy like that on a minimum and we have a huge hole at SF right now.

NAW and Bruce Brown I think are the obvious targets.

I like it, but we're now hardcapped at the 1st apron by using the MLE and BAE. So we'll have to pass on Wade, or do a different deal than taking on MPJs big contract.
