The reason people(including the national media) are saying this is concerning and odd is because you dont need to operate in silence to do a coaching search in the offseason, that sounds silly. The last time Leon did a search we all knew who they were interviewing and had interest in every step of the way just like every team. No other team is looking so why does Leon need this elaborate deception.

What has changed now that some Knicks fans are saying Leon needs to put out smokescreens, pretending to wait, and submitting false flag requests for interviews? Its still early and maybe they will get back to a normal process in a few days, but so far everything that has been reported is strange at the very least and looks kinda unprofessional..is that the right word

I would gladly advocate hiring Mike Brown to be Johnnie Bryant’s associate coach so that the dude has an experienced hand at his side.

I am praying that Johnnie is the actual target here. Going for retreads or coaches already employed isn't it.

It very much sounds like Kidd was there 1st choice...now does that mean he was there only choice no...but there is nuance to trying to take another teams HC...you have to avoid tampering/ect other things.

So that is where I understand some level of deception/secrecy involved.

As for the Mike Brown stuff now coming out...yeah I'm at a loss if they just value HC experience even if its bad HC experience.

BTW, I'm not a Mike Brown guy. But I think he's improved since his Laker/Cleveland days and I think this hire is more about collaboration than anything, so the staff around him (or whoever is hired) matters just as much as the HC himself.

i agree with your sentiment, i trust this new FO, but to answer your question, it'll probably take about 10 seasons to undo 20 seasons of trauma
