When he rejected the idea of going to both Brighton & Liverpool (what's new) and extended, Brighton shifted negotiations again. Constantly stalling and working and changing terms on the fly. A wild goose chase.

And then comes Liverpool at the 11th hour, and with a PL record bid. Alarm bells.

We hadn't heard about Liverpool's involvement in the Caicedo deal until the bid was accepted, which was mid August mind you. Liverpool were strongly linked to Manu Kone, K Thuram, Romeo Lavia that summer. Both the world & Moises Caicedo were only notified of Liverpool’s interest the day the bid went in, that means Liverpool purposely went to Brighton first, without going to Caicedo.

Brighton's plan was to completely blind side Chelsea out of spite regarding Levi Colwill, and Liverpool hierarchy assumed once the deal had been agreed Caicedo would auto-join which is why Ornstein reported personal terms as a “formality”.

And for good measure to put you in your place we took Lavia as well.

The issue with your theory is that the NY Times article I linked was from June, which clearly stated Brighton wanted, at the very least, 100m. Saying you were blindsided by Liverpool's bid in August in disingenuous, given Chelsea knew of the fee two months earlier. Instead, the Blues tried to lowball throughout the summer. Here's another article, this one from July:

Brighton and Hove Albion have rejected an £80million bid (£75m plus £5m in add-ons) from Chelsea for Moises Caicedo.

The improved proposal was submitted on Thursday and turned down instantly via email.

It is the fourth offer Chelsea have made for the 21-year-old after they had offers worth £60m, £65m, and £70m knocked back by Brighton.

Brighton have considered recent transfers such as the £105m signing of Declan Rice by Arsenal in deciding their valuation of Caicedo.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/4726999/2023/07/27/caicedo-chelsea-brighton-reject-bid/

And by the way, pretty hilarious to show Caicedo holding Chelsea's player of the season award. Who else would it have been? Cole Palmer, who has one PL goal to his name since mid-January? It's quite the damning statement for a club spending over a billion to only have one player to choose from.

You really put Liverpool in its place, didn't you? A shame both Mac Allister and Gravenberch had to be key components in winning the club its 20th title. For your sake, maybe Lavia will actually be healthy enough to play a full season.

What cares what Brighton want, that's not how negotiations work. Or maybe they do in the minds of Liverpool fans.

Actually that's how you end up paying £130 million and 400+ kpw's worth of wages for a player with the fraction of the ability of Cole Palmer.

Your league title has nothing to do with those trash midfielders you had to settle for after humiliating rejection after another. They're the rewards of long investments from the past. We're just investing now and clearly on an upswing trajectory.

It's not difficult to detect the pain in your words when it comes to Caicedo. Weren't you claiming the other day that Liverpool fans have convinced themselves they've never actually bid for him? That's war-torn levels of PTSD.

In your case, post through the trauma. This is a safe space.

I'm here for the show, which is quite entertaining.

You've been moving the goal post all over the field lately. Keep it up, stormi.

In regards to Wirtz, here is what you previously wrote on him:

stormi wrote:All hating aside, Wirtz is one of my favourite players in world football.

I've gone on record saying he's more effective than Musiala and just flat-out better than Bellingham. World class #10.

If you get him for anything less than a Prem record fee, it's a fantastic deal considering his stature and resume at that age.

Hoping he's another Bundesliga scam though... German ESR.

But, of course, he is "a player with the fraction of the ability of Cole Palmer."

And those two "trash midfielders," Gravenberch finished in Opta's PL team of the season and won PL Young Player of the Season.

Caicedo dominates Gravenberch on every individual rating(s) algorithm website. Sofascore, WhoScored, FotMob etc.

He's nothing special he got forced into conversations he doesn't belong in due to being on a superior squad.

This is a £100M+ maestro.

Not that German Frankenstein look-a-like you've been scammed for. PL record fee and Cherki's already punked him head to head this week. Wirtz isn't an Olise or a Cole Palmer caliber talent but he'll be a good soldier to your club.

Enjoy your player. Unlike you with Caicedo, I have no reason to harbour deep rooted resentment.

Amused at how triggered stormi is.

To counter my post, which never mentions Caicedo -- only refutes the "trash midfielder" claim, he details why Caicedo dominates Gravenberch.

And then proceeds to bash Wirtz, even though stormi has previous said he's a "World class #10."

Calling someone triggered because you don't have an amicable response left within you, but feel emotionally inclined to get the last word in, is the very definition of being triggered.

Gravenberch cannot speak to Caicedo, just like Wirtz doesn't sit anywhere near the table Cole Palmer does.

Deal with it, or don't. Not my issue.

In terms of new additions:

Mike Penders, Dario Essugo, Liam Delap and Mamadou Sarr travel with the squad for the first time.

All four getting minutes would be really nice.

Oh, you're triggered alright.

Deal with it? It sounds more and more as if you're the one who is struggling to deal with your club. Remember when Jackson first came to the Blues? You hyped him as the next big thing. Fast forward to today, you want him sold to make room for Delap. The same Delap you admitted to being iffy on.

In addition, you continue to mock Liverpool for what it may spend on Wirtz, yet downplay Chelsea's past record-breaking fees (Kepa, Enzo and Caicedo). By the way, Kepa has now gone to Arsenal for 5m. What's worse -- Chelsea and Kepa or Manchester United and Maguire?

I've repeatedly showed just how wrong you are on many occasions. Again, to say Wirtz "doesn't sit anywhere near the table Cole Palmer does" is nothing short of delusion. Wirtz was the Bundesliga Player of the Season the past two seasons, one of which coincided with his club dethroning ten years of Bayern Munich's reign.

I'm now waiting for you to tell me van Dijk and Alisson are nothing special either, and Liverpool massively overpaid for them.

You're not getting validation from me.

Florian Worst "Burgersliga player of the season":

— 1 goal & 1 assist vs Bayern in 10 career matches.

— 0 goals 0 assists vs PL teams.

— 2 big chances created in those games.

Nobody gets up faster to statpad vs Heidenheim and Bochum though.

21 year old Cole Palmer, 30+ G+A in the league.

He'll never reach those heights, and you should be alright with that.

The hypocrisy however is bleeding through the screen. Talking about premature parading of transfers and yet you're incensed that you're not receiving flowers for spending £130 million on a Bratwurst Emile Smith Rowe.

Let him prove something in a meaningful league before throwing a temper tantrum. I suspect he'll nuzzle in that Gibbs-White / Maddison tier.

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged by the Football Association with violating its anti-doping rules after he failed a drugs test and could now face up to a four-year ban.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cgmwg1w9130o

EDIT: Hard to fathom it wasn't too long ago when he agreed an eight-and-a-half-year deal for 70m euros (£62m), plus a further 30m euros (£27m) in bonuses.

Nicolas Jackson at it again.

Enters the match against Flamengo (64th minute) only to follow that up with a red card (68th minute).

I'm absurdly high oh João Pedro

Tall, strong, fast, courageous, technical, creative.

Image

One of the very best connective forwards in the league. Drifts all around the pitch. Big game player.

We're finally composing an attack of serious footballers.

Should signal sales of Madueke (priority), Nkunku (priority) and Jackson (in another lifetime, my sweet striker) which will send me to paradise. Coupled with Mudryk wrongfully trapped behind bars rotting in a 1x1 cement floored cell.

People are going to lose their minds, but Fab said we're going to sign another attacker.

Probably one of Kudus, Malick Fofana, Ekitike or Garnacho whomst we've held long standing interest in.

I don't mind the idea of Garnacho. He's young, a high volume shooter, generates a lot of touches in the box and amasses lots of non-penalty xG and expected assists which recruiters look to as way to project output.

I don't consider there to be a 'can't miss' winger on the market right now. Olise and Kvaratskhelia were those players. Barcola isn't moving and I have concerns about how good Rodrygo actually is.

Any of these other players are gambles for one reason or another. I'm more a fan of replacing these attackers and trying again and every link to a new winger is another foot out of the door for what we had to endure this past season.
