i wrote this in the nba thread but i see a few possibilities

- basketball wise, if scottie isn't included then we would be opening up a hole in another part of the roster, most likely center so we would still need a major follow up move. the price is probably too expensive.

- kd may not even want to come to toronto in the first place

Article mentions there’s several wild card teams in the running as well - Toronto could be one.

Go with the more cost-effective solution and get Bane or Poole.

Definitely notable we weren’t included in that list. I’ve grown to like KD, but think Giannis or standing pat are better options.

Why would KD want to join a team that just finished tanking back to back years during his last few years in the NBA. Raptors are going to show theyre good enough this year to land players like this.

I'm actually happy we aren't on the list because I've said numerous times it never made sense for both parties. I'm hoping we can land a tier 2/3 guy who can grow with this team for several years going forward.

GMs just put 'wild card' teams in there to raise the ante. Look at the way the press clip is written, it's basically co-authored by the Suns and KD's agent to show they are working together to give KD a soft landing. Those teams all make some sense for a guy at the end of his career looking to chase a ring.

Windhorst already said Giannis is staying put in Milwaukee. He doesn't want to leave. Durant was the only other star that had some links to us but looks like that's also not happening. I've always believed Masai would just draft whoever he gets at 9 and 39 and see how the team performs this season. Still a chance we do a trade to balance the team a bit, but I see that more at the trade deadline. He wants to give the team a chance.

if this tweet and those list of teams are coming from his agent, then the suns will send him to one of those destinations. unless some team comes in and gives him a mikal/gobert type offer which i doubt.

Crisis averted! If we were pursuing him, to me, that means Ujiri is getting desperate and entering into Bryan Colangelo last years territory.

It is encouraging that KD doesn't want to come here. I enjoy watching him play, but he isn't anything we need as a franchise right now, and certainly not for any kind of substantial price.

A HUGE no to FVV 2.0, but i really like Bane. That would be a good get to replace RJ in the lineup

I'd be thrilled with Bane, just a little cautious of his health. He's an excellent player, though, worth the risk. Definitely a better choice than Poole. Wonder what he'd cost?

I think KD makes a ton of sense actually. People make the mistake of comparing him to Ingram, the reality is they're not the same type of players at all.

Ingram is an isolation scorer around the nail and can play of ball while Durant has evolved to become a spectacular three point shooter who can still play some defense (even at his age).

The Raps are hesitant because they don't want to parse out Poeltl, he's the sticking point in all this.

Ya I don't understand the whole KD doesn't make sense for us narrative either.

People look at his age and get scared away, but his production is still All-NBA level.
