That Paul George trade is just wild. Clippers might’ve just given the Thunder a championship. lol. SGA was incredible once again.
I see you have started building that narrative Sam Presti has nothing to do with this soon-to-be championship
What is with this weird little Presti fan club on here.
Everyone in the league trades PG13 for what Presti did. He was literally in a “right place right time” situation and the rebuild of the thunder has more to do with Kawhi/PG than it does Presti.
Like at the end of the day OKC doesn’t care how it happened, but it’s not like you can simply sing Prestis praises for accepting the most brain dead obvious trade of the modern NBA.

The dude complained about Fred having the nerve to ask for the ball to bring up the court, instead of letting him learn how to dribble in NBA games.

OG getting Thibs fired after Thibs coaxed Leon Rose to pay through the nose for him is what the NBA is all about.

Forget top 5 picks, things really go downhill as soon as you're out of the top 3.
Can't say the Spurs are brilliant in drafting when 2 of their picks in the last 3 drafts are not even choices.

The Pacers GM famously picked uneven leg Greg Oden over Kevin Durant, who was drafted by the 'genius.' imo a subplot that I don't think I've seen talked about was how Pritchard did rebuild the Blazers into a dynasty that never was, while Presti at the exact same time accomplished the same thing. Here were are again with the two facing off in the finals. Pritchard's own misreads may have directly helped Presti get over the top.
This time around Pritchard hasn't had the easier value decisions at the top of the draft. He didn't get to flip a coin to take Chet/Durant, or just select Aldridge. It's just a lot more luck involved after that. Can't fault anyone for not seeing who hits at the 12th pick.
But those high picks are the absolute franchise turning points so often.
Is Joe Dumars/Detroit stuck in purgatory for a decade if he just takes the safe pick in Carmelo? Extra chips?
What about the Rockets right now, if they just took Mobley like everyone new they should? Is Durant already on the team at the deadline?
Just don't make the massive redflag mistake when you're in the premium spot. Even the Bobcats avoided Bobcatting by not taking the guy who was compared to a less athletic John Wall in this era.

The trade is only one part, actually following through on the process isn't as easy as people think.
SGA could have been traded right away in a package with those picks to get a new star next to Westbrook/CP3 as you see yourself making the playoffs unexpectedly. Maybe you make a "fit" move and trade him for Sabonis like the Kings did with Haliburton. Maybe you trade some of those picks for a role playing C or something to help make the playoffs instead of tanking for Chet as you hang on to instead of cycling CP3 for picks. Or maybe just see him leave in free agency eventually.
Then you don't get to pick Jdub with some other team's pick because you don't have it. Maybe you get to leak to the press that "we wanted to get back in the draft for Giannis/SGA, but no one was selling their picks" in the middle of draft fever instead.
The necessary patience to make those things happen is a skill of its own, and not all GMs have it.

This strangely feels like a must-win for Indiana to my mind.

i think presti has been claimed by those that only believe in tanking as their god. so many are super invested in him succeeding so they can use him as the golden ticket when arguing about tanking.

It's early but this looks like it will be a blowout. All the Pacers buckets have been difficult. The thunder are getting easy buckets. Not a good sign.

Thunder just seems always in control....Hard to see Pacers winning the series....Hali has to play amazing if they want a chance.

Pacers need Mathurin to become a player worthy of his high pick position. If he can that will be great for team Canada too.

This Pacers team has fight in them. You think they're done and they come back. Hard to write them off.

OKC sloppiness. The only thing leading to sustained Pacers offense. Pacers needed some of this from the bench as bleeding points that the starters can't get back was the recipe for early blowouts. Daigneault a little to worried about early fouls on IHart. The non-Hali double big minutes are a winner he can lean on. provided an opening for the Pacers early 2nd.

Whenever you think the Pacers have something. You're reminded...Oh yeah, they can just attack Hali, or drive straight to the cup. Or wide open 3s if they try to stop it. 3 layups later and all that momentum gone for the Pacers.
