It might be a little more than Mikal but keep in mind JJJ has the leverage in this situation. He is CAA. He has one more year on his deal and does NOT qualify for Supermax which would have given Memphis a large financial advantage in resigning him. He could easily say I want to play for Leon Rose and the CAA squad. Our squad with him inckuded if we give up Bridges and smaller parts/picks is easily better than that Memphis team.

Im leaning this way too. Though a healthy uncooked KD is still a stud no doubt. But I think its a much riskier play. For Bridges Hart Mitch Im all for it...but not KAT

kat had a great season.. there’s nothing else to unlock about him.. he’s 29 years old

A new coach can make the team feed KAT better. More clean looks. More attempts. Also, the team can hide him better in defense.

He had a borderline all-star regular season and a pretty solid first two rounds of the playoffs... I gather we could get 1 solid youngster and a pick... or two solid role players for him. But he still has value to these Knicks... he's a good all around bench player... he's best friends with Brunson our best player... and he seems like a solid locker room guy. I don't mind keeping him if he's 25 minutes off the bench of havoc energy.

Yeah he is on a solid contract, super energy and many winning plays and intangibles, still in his prime and good character and loves it here. I really don't think trading him would be beneficial. Utilized in the right line-ups and off the bench he will be a great asset.

I think due to his shooting deficiencies teams would be more reluctant to give up something good...we are better just keeping him around IMO. We already lost a lot of grit with DD and partly Randle gone...I really would not want to lose more grit with Hart traded.

That’s fair but low-key I think everything said is why he is the best option they have to correct the lineup of the plan is to keep KAT and Brunson. I legit think we could get a decent haul for him and if Mitch is the starting Center then move KAT to PF, OG to SF and Bridges to SG, next to Brunson.

They are paying him starter money and he isn’t a good fit starting next to Brunson and KAT when either Mitch or McBride fit better.

Mikal, Hart, and Robinson and our 2026 1st unprotected for JJJ and Bane. Memphis gets their major defensive uplift around JaMorant. And Bridges is much more effective as the 2nd or 3rd option. Trading for Divo would be an absolute bonus.

I don’t think they move Bridges. He actually played pretty well all things considered. Hart did too by t the shooting is a liability & honesty I think he would do better on a team where the offense relief more on transition scoring. Which doesn’t really fit next to the other four guys he was starting with who operate better in a half court offense.

Yup. Trading for superstars at the very tail end of their career for the decline is same ol' knicks. Terrifying that they are thinking about moving multiple dudes in their prime for 36 year old KD.

I dont believe they are thinking about it...

I share your hope, but they did try to make a trade for him at the deadline, so I'm not sure.

I still don't understand how a 36 year old KD has a higher value than a 29 year old KAT. I feel like we should get a couple firsts back with KD if we do that. I'm just baffled how anybody could think that we need to trade multiple starters and bench for the dude. It would be another huge mistake.

White will also be 32 when Tatum is back healthy. He's 32 and has multiple deep playoff runs on his body. You can make the argument that White will start his decline once Tatum is back. If there is a Bridges type of package out there for him, they should pull the trigger. If there isn't a big package, then you keep him.

This is not a trade discussion. KAT or BRUNSON

Post#1760 » by Nicnac » Wed Jun 11, 2025 10:15 pm

Ok. The talk on the street is that both are defensive liabilities. The focus is on how terrible KAT is while NYC continues to worship Jb. I actually give JB more credit than thibs for turning this team around. But if I had to chose one to ride with bc of their supposed inability to play together, I CHOOSE TOWNS!! I wanted this to be a poll. Didn't know how. My defense

First, this offense was created for jb. It's sad that as a guard he had either 6 or 8 assists the ENTIRE playoffs to towns who was tailored made for the Pic and roll while jb looked for Josh mostly, ALL YR LONG.he looked towns off. And yet someone towns underperformed???

SECOND, Thibs only featured Kat in the playoffs when he had to to try to save his A... And he delivered every time except the last game

Third, I believe we have seen the best of jb. He is slow up the court. Easier to defend in playoffs. And his real value is end of game. Which is important but difficult to be in that position every game

Fourth, towns passes better. Is more of a team player and is also unstoppable

Now jb is no slouch, but I don't think towns is given credit for who he is. And I suppose jb defense is given a pass in a heavily dominated guard league. I bet most don't agree. But it's interesting how NYC fans under appreciate their own. BUT LOVE EVERY OTHER TEAMS PLAYERS.

AND IT IS asinine to trade kat for 37 yr old KD who has never helped a team win without curry.

Anyone remember the mo cheeks deal??? Smh smh smh.

A kd deal WILL NOT GET US A CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT YR and then what

Fire away
Taking out trade idea. Not relevant

this is absolutely a trade discussion. -JVG
