Would the Jazz trade Vassell for Collins, in the supposed KD trade to the Spurs... something like...
Vassell+38 JAZZ
Collins/Barnes++ 14 SUNS
KD SPURS
Old Mike Lorenzo

Me too, but since this is the trade board, I’ll mention that many MIN posters wouldn’t mind seeing the team add a vet placeholder PG. The team wants to progress after the two WCF appearances raised everyone’s expectations.

Is that the direction you would want to go? Who would be a good target in FA or via the trade assets they have (keeping at least the core of Ant, McD, & Rudy I imagine)?

It’s really hard for me right now to predict the future for the Wolves - hardest season in twenty years. With so many option and expectations, new owners, etc, it’s tough to even know if they will be able to add free agents that aren’t on vet min deals.

On the Wolves boards, there is a lot of interest in bring Tyus Jones home. Many like Lonzo Ball. Supposedly the Wolves backed off Darius Garland, even before the injury, it might be enough to simply have a vet back up for a year.

I’d also mention that MIN might be an attractive option for a point guard that is looking for his next contract. There is certainly a good chance that Conley declines, and that Dillingham takes time, so if a PG tried to name MIN as a destination, it might be a pathway to minutes, even starting minutes, on a playoff contender where Ant helps the team get seen.

Orlando has been beaten to death. Utah seems like a weird one. Unsure what a Dallas deal would look like

Utah is a weird one. Dallas is a hard one because Portland would have to take on future money and Dallas would have to be willing to trade a future pick. Unless the offer involved PJ/Gafford to other teams with expirings and incentives from those team to Portland.

But he makes sense in that Dallas is desperate and being an expiring the cost in assets shouldn't be prohibitive.

No idea about Utah really.

The only thing I can think of is that Collins and Simons are both expiring and almost identical salaries, so maybe its a follow-up move to trading some combination of Sexton/Clarkson elsewhere

I have PJ/Gafford> Rui LA 1st> Simons, but Dallas seems in on Simons, so who knows.

Sounds like Blazers giving a couple SRPs to Mavs will balance the trade then.

eh. I also dont think Dallas can really trade both of their bigs or else they'll be thin there overnight depending on AD/Lively to stay healthy (not a great thing to depend on). I think Gafford gotta go but PJ should be kept unless there's an overpay. Simons is too expensive for a guy who probably cant play with Kyrie. A lot of people talk about these bad guard defenders, but Simons is really on another level

Nah, sounds like Lakers just stealing value for no reason whatsoever

If the deal were to go down, I'd take Rui to Dallas and send Hardy, Martin and Powell to POR.
That still would be underselling PJ, but at least Luka gets to benifit...

In the need for offense bad decision tree - Simons would be behind Monk, Sexton, Coby and Jrue for me.. probably others?

Tough to imagine he’s worth a distant unprotected first though so maybe get to see Dallas actually add protection to the LAL pick. Always seemed interesting to me.

I think PJ to OKC/Sac, Klay+Sac/OKC value to Portland, Simons to Dallas seems a pretty reasonable template for the idea..

This is really bad for Dallas and far from legal matching.

If you added Klay in, it probably bumps up to just pretty bad for Dallas..

Tyus makes a certain amount of sense as a FA pickup. Any chance he signs for the TMLE after settling for a minimum deal last season? I don't see the Nets making a play for him with their capspace. Would a team with the NTMLE available offer more? (If Utah actually wanted to win, I might see a play there.)

Dallas gets Simons. PDX gets Olynyk and McCollum. A filler would go from PDX to New Orleans.

I think the market for him is minimum on a 1 year prove it deal with a team that can give him 30 min per game and exposure (Dallas, Denver) up to the Tmle and being the 8th or 9th man, though i never really considered Utah an option. But if Sexton gets moved, i guess that would open up that option

Now NOP just has to pay Portland instead of Dallas? The quarter is still a quarter no matter how many flips..
