I'm not suggesting we move the top four pick for anyone at this moment, especially one with only 1 yr on a deal. I'm just disagreeing with your assessment of JJJ as a player, and what a player like him would actually mean to the Hornets.

Draymond Green makes 25 million per year. Great player, but I probably wouldn't want to pay him 50 million per year.
The Celtics are having to give away Porzingis and Holiday, why? Because Jaylen Brown makes 53 million dollars.

I am paying someone 40-50 million a year I don't want them to sometimes be a good third option and other games score 5 ppg.

50 mil Is probably the going rate for a 25 year old 6 foot 10 unicorn power forward, two-time All-Star and former defensive player of the year. Not sure why you're Singularly focused on his offensive output even though he did average 22 points a game the last two years. What 35 year old Draymond Green is making right now is kind of irrelevant.

id argue that jjj is more deserving of making fifty million a year than melo.

Nobody is arguing JJJ sucks.
Should the Raptors trade us the 9th pick in the draft because Miles Bridges is probably better than that player too?
My guess is you probably think that is an easy no right? because there is more to it than that right?

It is isn't as simple as you want to make it out to be, which is why in the last 10 drafts no top 5 pick has been traded for some random Veteran.

I remember 2 years ago when people wanted to trade #2 for Zion because he was better than whoever we would draft at that pick. Do you regret not trading Brandon Miller for Zion?

These trades basically never happen.

Evan Silva is basically the same level of knowledge that hang out on trade board. He just looks at rosters and makes guesses on what teams might do, or he posts aggregated rumors from other writers. Unless he sources it or I have seen it elsewhere it is usually worthless.

I don't think we're debating whether or not these trades actually ever happen or how often they happen. You said you didn't want to trade for jjj specifically because you didn't think he was worth 50 million on his next deal.my argument is that 50 million is probably a fair price point for what he is as a player at 25 years old. That's it that's the discussion. I'm not disagreeing with anything else.

we can move on...

Right but it isn't just paying him 50 million though is it... it is both. We would give up the 4th pick and have to pay him 50 million.

I wouldn't trade the 4th pick for Lebron either, doesn't mean he isnt a good player.

As I said numerous times, I'm not arguing or advocating trading the 4th pick for any one. I was simply mentioning that I disagreed with your valuation of what he is worth salary Wise. period. If other people were arguing for that, that's between them... I said specifically I wouldn't make that trade for him because he only has one year left on his deal and I would be nervous that it would be a one year rental. And that would be a colossal failure of Asset Management.

tldr
- I think jjj is worth 50 mil
- i would not trade 4 for him because he only has 1 yr left

Jaylen Brown seems more realistic than JJJ imo

I would do Bridges/Nurkic/#4 for Jaylen Brown. This team needs a leader and Brown is a no nonsense type of leader.

I don’t see the Celtics blowing up their key cogs and starting over.

Agree that X post about Miles is conjecture but grounded in possibilities. Hard to know what team would take a chance on Miles given his history but wouldn’t be the first time a GM used “change of scenery” as a bet.

See my earlier post on a trade with Utah for Lauri; Miles, Green, 4 and 34, Dallas future 1st for Lauri and pick 5. Maybe make the swap with 21 instead of 5 if can’t get it done.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

He said we were fans 4 years ago, which like you know was under a totally different ownership group, FO, and coaching staff.

He didn't report that we are currently interested in it.

LaMelo and Green would be such an awful pairing in terms of fit. They mesh well in a lot of ways offensively, but would be a defensive disaster and even on offense they would probably be too chuck happy.

Makes sense

Ace can fill the scoring void left behind if we traded Miles. Would also make sense to get a traditional pf.

I always like John Collins in that potential pf role.

Melo
Miller
Ace
Collins
Mark

Feels like a good mix of athleticism and shooting + rebounding.

But if JJJ would agree to extend before we agreed to the trade, I assume you'd be all over it?

I would.

i reckon he has always been a trade option, Charlotte aren't going to pay someone to take him though.

isn't the Phoenix GM obsessed with Michigan players?

could be a way to get us involved in a Durant trade. Miles works hard and is a warrior, he just isn't that smart.

In the details of Sam V’s draft guide on Harper, he says Dylan is someone who can play off ball very well, and may be as much as secondary distributor as primary. I think Harper would ultimately blend with Melo, or certainly be here if they choose to trade him.
