Think Utah is the wrong team to be trading for not-great overpaid win now talent.. and probably the wrong team to care about seconds.

Could the Bulls be a dark horse KD contender?

My summary of the trade news is - due to not having their own picks the Suns aren't interested in going into a full rebuild, but still they wouldn't mind getting young players with upside in exchange for Durant.

Enter the Bulls - one of the younger teams in the league.

Bulls in: Kevin Durant

Suns in: Ayo Dosunmu, Patrick Williams, Nikola Vucevic, Dalen Terry, Julian Phillips, and 2025 #12 pick

Bulls:

Giddey/Jones/Carter
Ball/White
Durant/Huerter
Buzelis/
Collins/Smith

Is it a short-sighted move by Chicago or do they view the East as wide open? Their front office seems to always toe the line between rebuilding and going for it. Player like KD don't come around often.

Suns:

Dosunmu/Terry/Micic
Booker/Beal/Allen
Dunn/O'Neale/Martin
Williams/Phillips
Vucevic/Richards

Vuc and Dosunmu are clear upgrades over their current center and point guard, with the benefit of Dosunmu being 25. Patrick Williams is either a bust or someone in desparate need of a change of scenery, if the latter the Suns nabs themselves a nice 23 year old locked in for 4 more years. Phillips and Terry provide additional youth wing depth to the Suns rotation.

If Williams long-term deal is a turn off you could easily swap Williams with Huerter in the deal.

Is this on par with the other rumored deals?

Say the Miami Heat feel timid about paying Tyler Herro's next deal:

Cole Anthony, Jonathan Isaac, #16, #25, and a future protected 1st from Orlando

for

Tyler Herro

Just an incredible run by Dolan. How long until they request on Diagnault and Carlisle?

They paid Bam, not sure why they would be timid.

The more I think about it, the more I feel a growing optimism about Minnesota's chances in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes.

I honestly don't know if other teams will be as willing to make aggressive trade offers as I think Minnesota could be. Connelly has always been one of the most aggressive executives in the league. It's how he built a title team in Denver and it's how he has built a roster in Minnesota that has made consecutive conference finals.

As shrink put it on the Minnesota forum: The winner isn’t the team with the biggest treasure box, it’s the team that’s willing to use the most.

Even if other teams are aggressive, are they the best offers for Phoenix? A big advantage for Minnesota is that two of its bigger salaries they could dangle in a trade are older veterans at positions of need, especially because Phoenix isn't likely going to be in a position to tank. Does Vassell make sense as a key piece in Phoenix when you already have Booker and Beal? Houston's top trade chip is likely Jalen Green, which also would be quite redundant. Miami likely leads any offer with Tyler Herro, another scoring guard. The last of the teams listed in the Shams report is too worried about begging coaches from other franchises to come to New York.

How would you structure the offer?

Isiah Thomas is still out there and apparently still talks to Dolan :-)

He needs to be employed by another team first before he can be considered .

I don't know, but I would say that the Timberwolves front office has been ruminating over this for four months already. I'm guessing they've gone over most of the possibilities, and figured out ways to make things legal and balanced.

The thing that matters for Minnesota is not sacrificing Edwards, McDaniels or Reid. From there, I certainly have favorites that I would prefer not to be included, but I could probably be talked into a lot of scenarios.

I think the big value pieces I'm personally dangling are Gobert, Randle and DiVincenzo. Minnesota has 17 to offer (draft Jace Richardson just to tempt the Phoenix front office!). I really don't think much else (if any) is required from a value standpoint, and you've surpassed Durant's $57 million as well.

Is Collins the better player? Vassell went from being really overrated here, to apparently worse than a one-way PF who probably doesn't start on a good team, all in 12 months.

What's the rough order of Dallas preferred outgoing salary? If you have up to KD or Jrue, or whoever, and could send them out as many as needed, in order most favorable to DAL, how would it go? Obviously some will depend on context of what player is coming back, but, you know, ignore that.

Powell, OMP, Klay, Hardy, Martin, Gafford, Marshall, PJ?

I want to eventually run a poll to see what the best return for a KD trade would be out of the teams rumored to be in contention for him. I'm assuming Vassell, Sochan, Barnes, and #14 would be the Spurs offer. Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and #10 would be the Rockets offer. Not sure what the consensus Knicks, Heat, or Timberwolves package is.

1. Hardy
2. Powell
3. Martin
4. Prosper
5. Thompson
6. Williams
7. Marshall
8. Christie
9. Gafford
10. Washington
11. Kyrie
12. Lively
13. AD
14 Flagg

I think that's how the team would view it maybe? But 3-6 can all probably be rearranged in some fashion and 7 and 8 might be flipped. Williams would be higher but he makes so little and they need cheap contributors so stuck him at 6. Kyrie and Lively should maybe be flipped.

jayjaysee or Khalil will probably have a different order, but this how I think the team would see them.

Collins has the better/less worse contract at least

No idea how it'd work, but I'd love Minnesota getting Derrick White.
