SAS might owe a really well protected first?
Grizzlies breaking Bane up is the part I’m struggling with. Adding to him to get a better player, I think they should go that route. Or even if they get value back by trading him for KD.. go for a championship while you can... But splitting him up like this doesn’t seem to make sense to me.
I think Eason would be viewed as a starting SF going forward for Memphis and would be a big part of the reason we might agree to trade Bane in this scenario. Now if Houston included enough additional draft capitol to get someone like Herb Jones then that would be possible but swapping someone like Whitemore would be a no go from Memphis pov. A Bane trade would have to return someone that fills a need for us. If we got Eason, Wells would play SG and hope that VWill bounces back, but we would be really lacking in playing making. But still better to stick with Bane and gamble on our current youth.
Adding to him to get a better player....that is my preferred trade using Bane.
For Memphis, this is about saving cap for JJJ in 2026.
I like Teri a lot. He is a good basketball player. But he is held in very high regard for an expiring player who has never cracked the top 50% in 3pt shooting efficiency and finished last season with a +2.7 defensive on/off. I think he develops into a hell of a role player it he’s probably going to get paid like that. That’s hard on the Memphis and Rockets cap sheet given their other priorities.
