Durant is a good fit. This team is missing a star scorer. The issue is they would need to give up Poeltl and either IQ or RJ to make the salaries work, which would create big holes in the roster.

Masai definitely has had a better record during his overall tenure here compared to Colangelo's tenure. However, criticism of Masai has been his performance over the past 5 seasons that has resulted in a lowly 0.428 winning % which is about equal to Colangelo's 0.430 winning %. Also, Colangelo made the playoffs 2x in 7 seasons (29% of time) vs. Masai making the playoffs 1x in past 5 seasons (20% of time).

So Masai's record has not been better in either the regular season nor in terms of making the playoffs over the past 5 seasons.

Masai tanked for 50% of this 5 year timeline. Colangelo was trying to win the whole time. This is a very lazy argument.

This is a misleading statement. Masai Ujiri did not choose to tank most of those times. He got forced into it after his team underwhelmed out of the gate to midseason, which is partly why most of the picks he got out of tanking wasn't all that. And we lost the pick regardless of his effort one year due to his idiotic trade earlier but I won't get into that too much but we all know what I'm referring to. Also, Colangelo actually did tank in Anthony Davis draft. Only problem was that he couldn't control his coach and G league scrub from f'ing it up.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but I also can't pretend his earlier years that ended with a championship didn't happen. So my statement stands. I won't believe he'd stoop to that level until he actually does it.

Its undeniable you would benefit with Durant, but the asking price is too much for a one year rental.

NY has the pieces to make it work. Jalen Brunson will be better off with Durant, cant rely too much on an undersized guard to carry you deep into the playoffs every year.

Per Marc Stein (according to Rosano) the Raptors are interested in Kevin Durant

Stein is the most connected to the Raps, so this report is definitely true.

Not surprising though. Will KD approve a trade to the Raps? Seems unlikely at this stage of his career.

Reports have him wanting a 2 year extension, but I don't know if that's linked to a team he likes, or if he's just a rental for a team he's less interested in but wouldn't veto.

Jak/RJ/Dick. No picks please, but I wonder if they give up 9th in a trade like this to avoid the tax and fill the rest of the roster with more ready players on small deals...

Even if we wanted to avoid the tax, the 9 pick is too much to include. For example, you could use that Cam Johnson+9 for RJ +19 trade proposal as part of a three way Durant deal and save the Suns even more money and get to keep the 19 pick for example. Not that I want to any of this
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I don't think he says no.

He sees what we have and what the front office would be willing to do to go all in.

He would come to Toronto and he would hoop.

But he ain't getting younger...so to sit out or pout for 1 year is stupid.

And teams acquiring him know that they owe it themselves and KD to go for it next season.

Why does the media say we are 'forcing' our way into the trade? More like 'Masai is engaging in trade talks with the Suns'?

Moving Jakob creates a lot of risk. I'm not convinced we are a better team with KD less Jakob. Our offense will be less painful to watch, but we will be losing games 130-121 on a regular basis due to the lack of a C.

However, if such a deal was available I would probably still pursue it. I think if it was RJ and Jakob plus a first, or BI and Jakob and a first for KD I would probably do it. But under the condition you can extend KD for 2 more years and we are able to draft KM or Sorber with the 9th pick. Also, we would need to add a vet C that can play starter minutes like a Drummound.

The other deal would be to go to Portland and see if they are keen to move Ayton since they have Donovan and swap RJ for him.

IQ - Shead - Brogdan (minimum)
Ochai - Walter - Wilson
KD - Dick - Battle
Barnes - Mogbo - Chomche
Ayton - KM - Yang

That's kinda the problem with getting him at this point of his career, KD goes to whatever team and just hoop. And they still lose for whatever reason. Especially if we lose Poeltl in this deal, we'd desperately need at least two competent bigs and I'm not convinced this FO is capable of finding them when they've had trouble finding even one for quite a while now.
