BKN - CLE - DAL - MIA - SAC (Garland to SAC)
———————————
BKN Gets: Duncan Robinson, Jaime Jaquez, & 2027 SAS 1st (Unprotected)
BKN Gives: Cam Johnson
Why for BKN? The Nets lean into the rebuild and sell off the 29 year old Johnson for Jaquez (who has 2 years left on his rookie deal) and a future unprotected 1st round pick. They also free up some cap space the following offseason since Robinson is an expiring.
PG -
SG - Thomas / Johnson / Martin
SF - Jaquez / Lewis / Whitehead
PF - Clowney / Robinson / Wilson
C - Claxton / Timme
———————————
CLE Gets: Keegan Murray, Jaden Hardy, Devin Carter, 2026 SAC 1st (Unprotected), & 2031 MIN 1st (Unprotected)
CLE Gives: Darius Garland
Why for CLE? The Cavs shed $17.4 mil in salary next year while picking up a young, long, athletic 3&D forward that can plug in as their starting SF of the future. Carter's a promising young combo guard who still has 3 years left on his rookie deal and can do a bit of everything who has the potential to be a versatile, lockdown defender. They also pick up 2 unprotected 1sts as well to help give them some cheap, young depth going forward.
PG - Mitchell / Carter / Porter
SG - Strus / Okoro / Hardy
SF - Murray / Hunter / Tyson
PF - Mobley / Wade / Okeke
C - Allen
———————————
DAL Gets: Malik Monk
DAL Gives: PJ Washington & Jaden Hardy
Why for DAL? With the Mavs being able to start a frontcourt of Flagg, Davis, & Lively with Marshall & Gafford off the bench, Washington becomes expendable. With Irving rehabbing from his injury, Monk gives them another scorer, ball handler, & playmaker to help carry their offense. Even when Irving is back, Monk can share the floor with him (similar to what he did with Fox) knowing the Mavs still have an elite defensive frontcourt to cover for them.
PG - Irving / Monk / Williams
SG - Thompson / Christie
SF - Flagg / Martin
PF - Davis / Marshall / Prosper
C - Lively / Gafford / Powell
———————————
MIA Gets: DeMar DeRozan
MIA Gives: Duncan Robinson & Jaime Jaquez
Why for MIA? The Heat move someone who has fallen out of their rotation/fallen out of favor with Spoelstra and get another go-to scorer & playmaker to help take some pressure off of Herro & Adebayo.
PG - Mitchell / Rozier
SG - Herro / DeRozan / Larsson
SF - Wiggins / Highsmith / Johnson
PF - Ware / Jovic / Anderson
C - Adebayo / Love
———————————
SAC Gets: Darius Garland, Cam Johnson, & PJ Washington
SAC Gives: DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, Keegan Murray, Devin Carter, 2026 SAC 1st (Unprotected), 2027 SAS 1st (Unprotected), & 2031 MIN 1st (Unprotected)
Why for SAC? Garland gives them their star PG of the future that they can build around with Sabonis, and give them a scoring trio of Garland, LaVine, & Sabonis. They also fill out their starting lineup with two big, long, athletic 3&D forwards in Johnson & Washington. The defense still wouldn't be ideal, but LaVine could be moved the following offseason (since he'll be an expiring) and they'd still have Ellis who could slot in as an excellent 3&D SG.
PG - Garland
SG - LaVine / Ellis / Davis
SF - Johnson
PF - Washington
C - Sabonis / Valanciunas / Jones

This seems a tad ambitious for the Kings. Trying to get all these teams to agree is a tough slog. It's a fair attempt at fair value for Garland though.

If the Kings are giving up all that and get no superstars back they're toast.

I doubt any NBA teams value Garland enough to offer this.

Sac adds another first and Cleveland adds Mobley. That’s closer.

I think there's a rather strong possibility the Kings get stuck running it back next season. I'm a little surprised Scott Perry took the job tbh.

Miami passes. Not into the idea of Ware, Bam, and DeRozan together, killing spacing. I wouldn't trade Duncan's contract for this. Maybe for Rozier, but not Duncan.

Re: BKN - CLE - DAL - MIA - SAC (Garland to SAC)
I can understand that the whole outgoing looks more like a Giannis package and not a Garland + good extras package. It might be more digestible if it's broken up into separate deals.
DeMar + 1st/Cam Johnson/Robinson+Jaquez is a single deal. I'm pretty sure since those three teams only interact with each other, this deal is literally a separate deal from the league office's perspective, although you can pass around 2nds to tie it in if you have to.
Murray/Carter/2firsts for Garland is part 2.
Monk for Washington, with Hardy being thrown in and out for salary purposes, is part 3.
Putting it all together makes it overwhelming but the separate pieces are more judgable on their own.

If Perry wants to keep his job a run it back would give him the chance to blame the previous regime. That's the thing he should do. If it fails it fails and at least then they didn't kill the chance to make changes from then on. If Perry wants to potentially go down in infamy he makes all in moves like this. If Perry goes all in on anything short of a true superstar and it doesn't work people will be flaming the guy for a decade because of the mess he got the franchise in. Perry should have already found out the Kings don't have the assets to get a superstar so time to move on and moving onto a high cost lower tier isn't it.

I think it is fair for the Mavs. I like PJ, but if Flagg can only play 3/4, you have to trade PJ. Monk is just a great plug-in for Kyrie's absence as a scoring punch. I think Monk with Klay could open up a lot of things in transition.

I think it's too rich for Cleveland, and realistically Brooklyn isn't needed here. Also, if Cleveland is moving on from Garland, wouldn't they value DeRozan as a bench scorer? I'm cool with the idea though, he's my crack at it.
OPTIONAL: Take out the Okoro for Powell swap.
Sac out: Demar, Monk, Carter, 2027 SAS 1st (Unprotected), & 2031 MIN 1st (Unprotected), 2 Charlotte 2nds
Sac in: Garland, Washington, Okoro
Kings get their pg and a pf who fits with Keegan and Sabonis. Solid 9 man rotation
Garland - LaVine - Keegan - Washington - Sabonis
Keon - Okoro - LaRavia* - JV
Dallas out: Powell, Washington
Dallas in: Monk
Often discussed. Dallas gets Monk.
Cleveland out: Garland, Okoro
Cleveland in: Carter, Demar, Powell, 2027 SAS 1st (Unprotected), & 2031 MIN 1st (Unprotected), 2 Charlotte 2nds
Cleveland gets a great fit in the backcourt with Spida. Prior to Carter getting injured he was the draft darling as a day 1 White/Holiday type. Demar is a great 6th man for them. They save nearly 17 million to bring Jerome back. They pick up 2 1sts + 2 2nds.
Mitchell - Carter - Strus - Mobley - Allen
Jerome - Tyson - Demar - Hunter - Wade

The Cavs aren't trading Garland for a pick package this summer. Next summer, that could be a possibility for Garland (or Mitchell) if things don't work out.

I'm also not sure I'm ready to anoint Carter as a perfect fit next to Mitchell after logging less than 400 minutes in the NBA...
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Cleveland can't aggregate. I'd be happy to give them Garland for Murray and 2 1sts though. Would open up a lot of space to resign Jerome and Merrill then get below the apron. Probably need a third team to ship Monk off to for a player making closer to 8-9 million

Murray, recently picked player in lottery, and 2 unprotected 1sts, while also getting cap relief is too much for Garland, that's not a realistic ask.

That's what the Sacremento guy posted haha. I'm saying Cavs would take less and the other teams keep Carter and Hardy. Carter was a lottery pick last year too but Murray is in the final year of his contract which shaves off his value.

2 future 1sts (one in 2031) and Murray (who is a FA at year end) is not that big of an overpay for a 25 year old 2x all star PG who'd fit well with Derozan and Lavine. I'm not the biggest Garland fan but that's pretty fair.

He has injury history, has repeatedly disappointed in the PO and is also problematic defensively, Murray is RFA, he is within Cavs control, I have this as at least 1 1st too much.
If we want to judge Garland by his best years, then Murray should be judges by his best year.

I think for it to be legal it'd have to something like
Sacremento: Murray, Monk, Sacto 2026 1st, and Timberwolves 2031 1st
Sacremento: Garland, Gueye, Hawks 2026 lotto protected 1st
Cavs: Garland
Cavs: Murray, Sacto 2026 1st, Timberwolves, 2031 1st
Hawks: Gueye and 2026 lotto protected 1st
Hawks: Monk
then as a part two if they want okoro for nothing then the Hawks can have Okoro for Niang back to Cleveland.
Sacremento: Murray, Monk, Sacto 2026 1st, and Timberwolves 2031 1st
