If VJ is gone, I'm probably leaning towards Kon. I think he's more of an all-around offensive player than Tre (both great shooters, but Kon has better passing/feel) and doesn't have the offensive fit / maturity concerns of Ace.

Replace Miles and Green with a PF that is taller than 6'8 and a 3/D player who actually takes shots.

Although maybe the fit concerns are overrated. If expected to trade Melo within the next season or two, then we should take Ace for the upside.

2 weeks out my ranks are probably

vj
kon
tre
ace

tier with bunch dudes grouped together that I havent really spent enough time thinking about to rank them
jaku
maluach
queen
cmb
bryant
fears
noa

My two preferred options are still try to trade up to number two to get Harper without giving up melo/miller or trade back to the 6-8 range

If VJ is the guy trade up for him. Offer the 76ers the first from the trade with the Suns and pick 33 in this draft.

Maybe that's the lesson learned from last year's draft for Jeff. If you have a guy that you really like and feel that he fits your team then maybe it's worth giving up an asset to get them. Last year we were clearly very high on Reed and Castle. Both of which would have been significantly better draft picks then tiddy. reed Didn't have a great rookie year but he was on a stacked team and when he did get consistent minutes he was solid. I think he'll surprise a lot of people in the next two to three years. Point being, may be the Hornets should have given up an asset to move up to grab one of these two. Obviously Castle would have been the prize.

this is only to say, if you truly believe in a player and he's in your range then make it happen. Same goes for Harper. If they genuinely think Harper is a difference maker and can get the best out of melo/miller... Then you make an aggressive offer to the Spurs for them to move back two spots

I don't see any reason this team needs to pass on Ace for Kon. We aren't close to a top 6 team. As currently constructed. I'd rather trade the pick for White

I can say what I think I would do but it really boils down to what this GM wants. Article in Hornets SI cites draft analyst referenced with hints of what Peterson is looking for (points to VJ or Kon). Also I don’t think any of these players is worth trading up for other than Harper (Flagg obviously but no chance there).

ugh i can here the arguing on this board already if we draft Kon.

i'd want to at least trade back for him, his size and athleticism still scare me. you need to Mullin/Bird skill and awareness to be great with those limits.

Vecenie predicted we'll trade up for VJ. If this is the price I don't think many of us will be too upset.

Yeah, getting Andre Drummond @$5M and only giving up pick 34 would be OK as a return, especially if we don’t see a path to trading both seconds to get another 1st in the mid 20’s. This would be especially superb if somehow the Spurs would draft anyone other than Harper. Doubtful, as they’d likely trade back if their target was someone else. A SPURS DEAL IS WHAT WE NEED TO BE WORKING ON. There is serious chatter that they may want Knipple, or even Maluach.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Id really love to keep both of those 2nds if possible, but if they are set on a guy I wouldn't hate giving one of them away to move up.

Decent amount of hornets talk in this one plus most of the conversation is about the guys in our draft range

Interesting, I do really like the idea of Harper with Maxey.

Assuming the Sixers would have to give up McCain (and obviously 3). Harper is a prize.

That'd be a bad move, I think. McCain was really good last year before injury.

Also if Spurs trade down to 3, there's no way they take VJ right?

Who knows on VJ. McCain seems the only attractive asset not named Maxey. Sixers have no 1sts until '28 so not a ton of draft capital but if the Spurs want to kick the can down the road Philly has their own 1st and LAC unprotected in '28. Still have a hard time seeing SAS not 1) drafting Harper despite fit concerns or 2) making a bigger deal for a current star.

I'd think the Spurs would take Ace in this scenario. With Castle and Fox, they really have no need for VJ.

Could see them draft Kon too, like Houston did with Reed.
