You know Portland is making out like bandits here because JRoy hasn't busted the door into the thread with his usual, "OVER MY DEAD BODY".

Sure sure...
Lakers will drop below 1st Apron, and send an up and coming lead guard to get a backup center in a S&T.
Hey, just thinking out loud…but if LA is going to end up hard capped at the first apron and drop below, couldn’t they just clear a little salary to just sign Adams with the MLE? And keep Reaves at the same time?
But just thinking out loud!

I've seen Reaves name a lot this offseason. Did the Lakers fall out of love with him?

It hurts Daddy when you talk like that.
Seriously, no one is paying that for RW.
I would just as soon not trade with LAL at all, but this is a trade board. This is what we do here.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Re: Lakers and a big man
The Lakers big man deal is easily Lakers and Orlando.
Lakers trade
Dalton Knect
Shake Milton
Magic Trade
Goga Bitaze
Magic cut Shake before his guarantee to save money. They also add a shooter they desperately need.

Not sure why the Magic would do this. I'll take the valuable backup big man over the mediocre 24 year old decent shooter. Orlando has two picks to draft a guy tho make a couple threes per game and nothing else.

Expiring after the season and no way to retain him, so basicly have to trade him to get something

Reaves + Vandy + #55 for Goga + Isaac +#16 + #24

And why would the Magic give up 1st round draft compensation, while also taking on Vandos contract? Austin Reaves is not enough a needle mover for the Magic to even think about this.

Because he is instantly the best offensive guard they would have on their roster in the last decade probably
Lakers shouldn't do this, they aren't a rebuilding team that would break up assets into low draft picks, why should be doing the opposite...
Defense wins draft lotteries!

The actual big man deal was including a Gafford / Reaves swap in the Luka trade. I think it would have slightly helped to balance the trade, but credit to Pelinka for not having to do that.
BTW - the whole trading a guy with non-guaranteed money and then cutting him is not how it works anymore. Shake's 25/26 salary would have to be guaranteed (or at least partially guaranteed) in order for him to be traded.

I don't believe this to be true. LAL is limited to what they can offer Reaves in an extension this summer but can offer up to the max in the summer of 2026 should Reaves (as expected) opt to become a free agent.

I love Reaves. Not like Luka level though. But even then, I would trade Luka too for the right package. You have to be open minded and keep your options open, especially for your players that have value.DaVoiceMaster wrote:I've seen Reaves name a lot this offseason. Yeah I think Brook is an attainable player who can make an impact. He’s maybe not the perfect fit but he’s better than what they have and won’t require much.

Magic should jump at this. Knecht was largely viewed as a top 10 prospect in last year's class, and nothing he did last year should have changed your opinion of him. But yeah, backup centers hold value around the league.

Not really, no. But he's probably the Lakers best in a very limited number of trade assets.
