PHI - CHA - BOS - WAS: draft pick round-robin

Post#1 » by babyjax13 » Thu Jun 12, 2025 3:20 pm

PHI trades: 3
in: 6, 18, 28
Philadelphia captures value in moving down and targets Kneuppel in the draft. I think there is a chance the VJ rumors are an attempt to extract value from Charlotte who is rumored to want him.

CHA trades: 4, 33, 34
in: 3
Move up for VJ who Charlotte is rumored to want.

BOS trades: 28
in: 33, 34
Address some of the financial pressure they are facing by getting two early seconds to try and find a rotation player instead of just one late first.

WAS trades: 6, 18
in: 4
Washington moves up to draft one of Tre Johnson/Ace Bailey, both of whom seem like good fits for a young team.

Agreed. Sam Vecenie of the Atlantic has just published a mock draft with a similar scenario.

This is weird.

If 6+18+28 gets to 3, then Washington just trades up to 3.

Boston already has 32.

Charlotte is moving up one spot in a flat part of the draft, Washington is moving from one tier to another.

I think all the move up teams are underpaying. Charlotte way underpaying. I don't believe in tiers like this. Each of those teams will have clear preferences. Now if Charlotte tells Philly we are moving up for a player and its not who Philly wants they might move back cheaply, but yeah Washington is cutting the line if this is the math.

I think there's a good enough chance that one of Bailey/Johnson slips to #6 that I wouldn't trade up to make sure I get them at #4.

I'd be more interested in working directly with Philly to move up to #3 where I could draft VJ. If Philly is willing to trade #3 for #6, #18 and #28, the Wizards are already almost all the way there. All they would have to do is turn their existing #40 into the #28, and that shouldn't be too hard.
