All these critical depth pieces are locked in for multi year deals , and of course siakam hali locked in

They just have a decision to make on Turner. Matherin is locked in next year and then he is the one depth guy that contract is up after next year

But everyone else ? Nembhard just locked in to a great value deal until 28-29 Mcconnel up 30-31., toppin 28-29.. Neismith and Sheppard locked into value deals till 27-28

And guys like jarace walker and Enrique freeman on ice on rookie deals who can play

They have a first round draft pick this year, and 3 second round draft picks this year

The front office has been absolute nails.

The only upgrades for this team could be better rebounding big,, and maybe more free throw/iso driver half court guys since Matherin and siakam are the only ones

They probably keep Turner due to his history with the team and not to mess with a good thing, but could be argued that he is replaceable with that large contract and some of his limitations

Nah. Indiana has never paid the luxury tax.

If they win this year, however, I could see them being in the tax for a year or two, but they will end up losing pieces because quite frankly some of their younger guys are going to want to play more and get paid. It's going to be hard to keep Mathurin AND Walker on the bench after their rookie deals are up if Nesmith and Nembhard remain in the way to those guys being starters. Now this doesn't mean the Pacers have to move them before they reach RFA. I mean, I know I wouldn't. They're contributors on reasonable contracts that you can use to facilitate other deals.

Enrique Freeman's going to be a good player too. Their development program has been good for years now.

If they win the title this season, They definitely have a shot at contending for more titles with the east being weaker than it ever has been. So to answer your question most definitely depending on how they do in this series.

I'm enjoying this Pacers playoff run as much as anybody, but the Pacers didn't win 68 games in a tough Western Conference. That's why nobody is talking about a dynasty. Even if they win the title, it's doubtful that they will be the favorites to win the East next year.

OKC is a sure bet to be the favorites in the West for several more years assuming good health to their Big 3.

We will see this thread made about every single team that wins the championship going forward, or in this case, even teams that are still 2 wins shy lol.

I'm not even trying to hate on Indy, but it's just a fact they've needed literally 4 of the most miraculous wins in playoff history just to reach this stage, the odds of them being able to sustain this are virtually zero. You can bump this if I end up being wrong, I wouldn't even bet on Indy making another Finals after this, so the dynasty talk is just frankly embarrassing.

Do people realize we've now had 7 different champs in a row, and a defending champ hasn't even made it back to the conference finals. And we're seriously trying to proclaim a 50 win 4 seed as being the next dynasty? It's just ridiculous.

Indy seems more like a team that is playing above their heads for one playoff run. They will still be contenders for 5-6 years but I wouldn't even expect them to make more than 1 more finals.

They have a lot of good players that are underpaid right now that will inevitably be looking for huge pay raises

They don’t have Myles Turner locked up going forward, he can command a pretty big contract after this playoff run

They have a team option on Mathurin next year but after that he will probably look for a big raise

Isaiah Jackson is a RFA. How much would they be willing to match? There are plenty of teams that would love to outbid Indiana for a young player with potential

Thomas Bryant is an unrestricted FA, will teams be overrating his talent based on this run? I sincerely doubt Indy gets a hometown discount but could be wrong

Nembhards bargain contract ends after this run. Next year his 18 million kicks in

They have team options on Jarace Walker and Ben Sheppard for next season and the following season after that. Those will be good bargain deals for their bench

Hali, Toppin, Nesmith, Nembhard, and Siakam are all locked in through 2027-2028 with the exception of Nesmith in the final year

Im still not sure they’re going to win this series. They’re still a 2:1 betting line underdog even with a 2-1 series lead. Anyone who feels confident they’re going to win this series should be throwing money at them with both hands. If they did win this title they’d be the most surprising champion I’ve seen in watching 40 years of the NBA. I cannot possibly imagine a Pacers dynasty.

They can win this series at this point and I think there’s value to be had in betting them with double the payback on your investment. But it’s likely that this very moment is the height of the Haliburton era Pacers. Leading 2-1 in a finals. The most likely thing to me is it gets no better than this moment right now.

My gut says no. It’s incredibly hard to win a title. Barely any teams even repeat. The stacked Celtics couldn’t repeat, the Spurs have never done it.

I would welcome it though. This would be the most unique dynasty ever. No generational talents, just an emerging superstar playmaker, and a swarm of guys who play their hearts out. The closest comparison is probably the Nash led Suns offensive juggernaut, but these Pacers are actually playing defense.

We get this topic/thread every season
We are still waiting for the Nuggets, Celtics, Raptors, Bucks, Celtics , Cavs dynasty.
Heck, after my Spurs won in 2014. Folks were calling for another mini Spurs dynasty. We haven't been back since...... injuries, aged out, kawhi left, core players retired, etc. We are now in our 6th year of rebuilding. Darkest years of Spurs history.
Furing that era, GSW came out of nowhere mid 2010s and passed up potential dynasties (Thunder, Clippers, Spurs, etc) . LeBron returns to Cleveland and they become elites, while the Heat declined. Kobe Lakers declined and had some dark years (7 straight losing seasons, missed playoffs). Mavs fell off and rebuild, Dirk retires soon. Etc
A lot can change within a few years. We don't know what the NBA landscape will be like 5 yrs from now.

Dynasties are very hard, rare to do these days.
GSW had a brief one yrs back, but that kinda came around after KD latched on to them. Kind of the last superteam.

Anyhow, there will be more parity for yrs to come as it has been for the last 7 years.

OKC will probably win a couple of championships within the next 5 seasons or so. May not start this year, but could be next year. They are set for the future, young, tons of assets.
Pacers? They will be contenders for years to come. They will probably win at least 1 championship. Whether it's this season or later on down the line. Kinda like the 2011 Mavs, 2016 Cavs, 2019 Raptors, etc . As for dynasty? I'd say OKC has better chance at that than Indy.
But I could see both winning an NBA championship each within the next 5 seasons. With OKC winning a couple.
Both are like the Spurs: well run mid/small markets, usually competitive. Good front office, scouting, coaches, player development, drafting, trades, etc. Historically good franchises.
